Has Varney ever been the top scorer in League 1?
Has he scored goals for fun in L2?
Has he scored double-figures in a struggling Championship team?
Are lesser countries vying for him to have distant nationality so he can play internationally for them?
No, no, no & no. Therefore & this is not a biased valuation, Freddy Eastwood is worth more than Luke Varney!
Furry muff! As I said, I honestly dont know much about Varney. That seems to make a fair argument - how old is Varney, how long has he been a pro etc??
By the same token (and playing devils advocate), would you say Eastwood is worth more than Billy Sharp because Sharp hasnt played in the Championship?

£1.1m you gotta be having a laugh. If Nugent is worth £6m, Freddy is worth at least £4m.
I have to agree with you. If he leaves then he won't have done himself any favours what-so-ever!Thats exactly what I though, I think he shot himself in the foot with that statement. If Fred does leave in the summer I suspect a few RM fans to drop off the chart....
Was thinking exactly the same. Although I would like 2+ mil for him, we have to be realistic here. He's in his last season on his contract now and we either; sell him now and get some cash to help build the squad in the future (However little it be it WILL help the club) OR Have an unhappy forward who doesn't want to play for us; isn't motivated therefore hardly scores any goals for us. End of the season comes and then he leaves on a free. We lose out on our cash (whether its a large some or little sum), we may risk getting relegated not having a motivated player scoring - and everyone loses? I know which option I would rather have. We have to think about the future guys - and not only now! Planning for the long-term is better than the short-term. I'd rather take 1 Mil for him now and let his progress and thank him for all he's done and let the club be in a better financial status than risk it all going tits-up.*I think anything over a million is a brucey bonus, he in last year of contract we gotta take what we can.
Yes, but we don't have the right partner for him now do we? Should he move to Charlton he'll have a good playing partner, we'll have the money for him and everyone will benefit in some ways; yes we will lose out on his services but we'll lose him at the end of the coming season anyway so why not cash him in now, whilst we have the chance? And just because he can create the better goals doesn't mean anything. Give a player a good enough squad and anyone will be able to score goals.i think freddy is better at creating goals with the right partner... and so i would value you him slightly higher than sharp and varney
Well, let's face it, they're opening bids aren't they? Wouldn't be surprised to see him go at somewhere between £1.75 and 2 million.
£1.5m is the price tag then, according to Tilly on the OS. Interesting.
