right, so lets say that the planning permission failed for FF? Having already paid the money that RM paid to take the proposal that far, where do you think the club would be now? Do you think he would have stopped the club from going into administration? I think not.

My point was nothing along the lines of :

"What does the above mean? Are you suggesting that Ron Martin should only build us a new stadium if it doesn't benefit the club?"

I dont mind a chairman who makes money with the club, but not one who uses a club purely as a vehicle for personal gain....

He is a developer, they get 'knocked back' all the time Having already paid the money that RM paid to take the proposal that far, where do you think the club would be now? Why is it so difficult for people to accept that Ron has to make substantial money for all his efforts?

And what of the administration that so very nearly happened whilst using HMRC as a "bank"? Not to mention the transfer embargo it looks like we are still under judging by other posts...Although I guess thats ok as he wont be buying any players in for a looooooooooong time.

This post isn't in defence of RM, but more a way of how businesses can be run. To start we didn't go into administration, and sadly it's a way of the business world that company's will use other company's as a bank, it happens to my company all the time, and it's up to our credit control people to ensure we get paid as near to time as possible.

I can't comment on the transfer embargo until we hear something definitive from either the club or the Football League, and it may of escaped your notice but as the transfer window is closed we can't buy anyone for at least another 44 days. Whether we can or will is a different issue and will only become self evident once the window is open.

So HMRC lent him 2.1 million to pay..... err...... HMRC?

I'm sorry but we move to a new stadium or we cease to exist. If it means some very lean times ahead then so be it as the alternative is no club to support.
I wish we had a oil tycoon in control but we don't so get over it.

So the likes of other teams who pull in half our crowds can successfully run a club, yet we have NO choice but to move into a new ground now, otherwise we "cease to exist" as you put it.....So who exactly put us into this irreversible situation?

Dont get me wrong, I'm not against going into a new stadium, just that the methodology for getting us there (if this is even still the plan) is looking highly questionable!

RM has openly admitted to using the HMRC as a bank. i.e. money in his bank earning interest is better than giving it to the government and not earning interest on it.....

Seems like a very desperate, and highly risky way of making an extra few quid on the side to me....But again, who loses out? Ron Martin or SUFC?

Actually looking at the number of teams who have been in administration or who are suffering financial difficulties I doubt that there are many and possibly any profitable teams in L1 and L2

Interesting to note Millwall have recorded a £5.2m net loss to June 2009.

Only a matter of time before clubs like them will be in the ****...

superblue24, you are either very young or very naieve.

You are either very rude or very blind...hang on, your both.

To be honest, I could talk on here until I'm blue in the face, but I'll never get through to the the "Ron Martin Rose tinted gang", so it's hardly worthwhile.

I'll admit that I haven't provided many facts on here, mainly because the chairmans complete silence. But you guys dont seem to have any facts to dispute what I've said either so I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Maybe some of us see the bigger picture and see what Ron Martin is trying to achieve at this club.

We are building a massive new stadium in the middle of a the biggest recession in over a decade, it was always going to be difficult.

There are facts, we have a new stadium agreed for the first time ever and hopefully in a few years we will be in there and this will be seen just as a hurdle to clear on the way there....

And Swindon seem to be in trouble to over a 2.45 million pound loan.

Oh but hold on, apparently every other club in the division are doing ok and we are the only ones struggling according to a some of the posters in recent weeks....

superblue24 to be honest I think your making a bit of a fool of yourself. I'm certainly not rose tinted about Ron Martin and the state of the football club at the moment but as Jam Man says, we are in the middle of a recession which has hit the building sector hard as the banks aren't lending. It doesn't take a lot to work it out mate.

Just a small point, nobody's building a massive stadium at present and when/if they do, WE wont be building it RM will be building it and WE will have to rent it.

I am sure you will still make another post about how Evil Ron is...

i do not believe we are the only team in the s**t. Personally i wish the club would have gone to the consortium a few weeks ago.
i think the future of southend with them would have been in good hands, and i think might have brought some new sparks into the team.

That's fine but for me anyone who comes up with what the fans want to hear in the hour of need has to be taken with a pinch of salt IMO.
Nobody knows anything about this consortium but we do know what Ron Martin and Co are about.
You may not like it but at least he's up front - kind of...

No construction work has been carried out due to the problems caused by the recession but plenty of other work has. Just because the diggers arent in doesnt mean it will never happen.

And if we dont get the new stadium we will have to rent Roots Hall.

Id rather rent a new stadium that allows us to grow than one that doesnt....
