The damage was done long ago when performances and results were poor. 0-0 at home to Macedonia was dreadful.

I thought we played well yesterday and were undone by a suspect refereeing decision and an error of judgment by our goalkeeper in a 5 or 10 minute spell. After a nervy opening we looked very comfortbale and Russia were reduced to long shots having run out of ideas.

It depends on what you want. England have undoubtedly improved these past few months. Do you want that improvement to grind to a halt on the back of one defeat? Or do you think there's someone about who could not only get better perfdormances and results, but would also want to take the job and still want it when everyone turns nasty during a dodgy patch?

As ever there's a voice of reason somewhere.
We all know it's that spell this time last year that cost us, and I didn't think we played that badly yesterday. However, I still firmly believe McLaren is the wrong man for the job.

Look, we had a few 3-0 wins on the trot. So what. The fact is that it looks like we're not going to qualify for a major tournament for the first time since 1994. Now, sorry, the manager has to take responsibility for that.

Call me fickle but get him out.

Thought Mourhino was in the frame according to the papers at the weekend.

Would prefer getting Scolari in. The FA seem to have no issue with throwing multi million salaries around to twits like Mclaren, so splash a bit more, get scolari out of his current contract and, bingo, we might win something.

No NO NO , i would stop wathcing if that cheating arrogant over inflated **** was allowed any where our football. You win at all cost within the rules of the game , not with gamesman ship and rule bending to teh point of breaking .

The sooner is gone the better

Mourinho has always said he'd never manage an national side other than the Portuguese selecçao

As for McLaren, wait and see if we don't qualify first. I'm fairly sure we won't (and my 6/4 bet on us missing out is looking very nice at the moment, much as I'd rather lose it), but there's no point making a decision until the end of qualification.

russia in israel and croatia in macedonia... stranger things have happened so it isn't a write-off just yet

Keep on grasping those straws..... No way are Russia going to lose to Israel.

Quite. I did say it was unlikely, reasons being:

a) Israel have nothing to play for

b) Mr Abramovich can exercise his influence over both those teams. If he wants Israel to go easy, they will.

Nope - Russia are pretty much home and hosed now, can't see them losing to Israel and they certainly won't lost to Andorra. A miracle is needed now, sadly :(

Well bearing in mind we had Mclaren appointed recently and at that point no one of note wanted it I cant see who would be any better.

Got to be an Englishman for me, and there arent any decent options other than Alladyce, and whilst he did great at Bolton I dont really want him as England Manager.

If we fail to qualify he should go, but Idont hold out much hope for a decent replacement.

TBH, I dont care if they replace him with a jacket potato right now, I just want the satisfaction of having him out to at least make some of us feel a bit better. He has wrecked our Euro campaign.

And a jacket potato would be easier on the eye than McLaren as well! :p
