Morning.

What a load of f**king bo**oks the match was yesterday. Utter joke.

Get McLaren out. Who loses 2-1 to Russia after being 1-0 up with twenty minutes left? Who draws 0-0 with both Macedonia and Israel? Who selects Jolene Lescott at left back for his first cap in a must win away match? What a tool this man is.

It's okay though, because if Russia fail to win in Israel (you know, like we did) then we only HAVE TO BEAT Croatia to go through, in second place. Excellent. What a chance we have.

Fu**ing tools.

I'm starting to think Gerrard is over-rated now as well. Doesn't do anything for Liverpool, and doesn't do anything for England. If it wasn't for Sol Campbell then it would've been 4-1. Joke.

JUST SACK HIM! And don't say 'who else would you get?'- ME. ANY OF US. WE'D ALL DO A BETTER JOB THAN THIS CLOWN.

Rant over. I voted for Mr Bean just for his inspirational team talks at half time.

Oh, and another thing, at least the rugby boys have reached a World Cup final. Again.

The footballers can't even qualify for a European Championships.

Interesting Matt, 2 of those 4 were not born in England so "should not be allowed here".

That leaves Alladyce and Mr bean then

We've looked marginally less awful recently, but that's largely thanks to recent team changes (e.g. Barry) being forced upon him. We still haven't learned to keep hold of the ball, slow the pace of the game and relieve the pressure on our defence - in this respect we haven't moved on from the Eriksson days: in fact one could say we've gone backwards, as we've lost twice the amount of games in this campaign alone as we did in qualifying campaigns for the entirity of the latter's reign.

How Gerrard, paid as much as he is, can't at least hit the target with a clear shot from 10 yards is quite beyond me...

Agreed.

The press got what they wanted with Sven though didn't they? He got sacked. And look what we got instead.

People said give McLaren time. I have. Now get him out.

I don't understand what the FA were thinking appointing him in the first place. He hardly set the world alight at Middlesbrough, his success wouldn't have arrived without their large budget.
He was a yes-man for them: appointing yes men usually gets you nowhere, so this was puzzling considering the FA's ambitions for the national side.

Whoever takes the job (and IMHO they'd be insane to take it) it doesn't matter - the England football team are not as good as people like to think they are. The fact that the Prem teams play FAR too many matches doesn't help either.

We have to get used to the fact that England are a second rate international team and cannot compete on the world stage.

Some England fans do seem to have the misguided opinion that we're the best side in the world. However, we have a better side than results in this campaign have indicated.

would people have wenger if he still insisted on job-sharing with arsenal? just wondering....

Maybe, but come the Euro's it'd be misguided optimism that we just need to turn up and the trophy's ours where in reality it'd be a struggle in the qualifying rounds and then a "heroic" battle in the qf's and then on a plane back home.

Indeed - as things stand we're not a match for teams like France, Italy, Germany or Spain. Some fans need a reality check, and maybe non-qualification may provide this.

Then again....

The damage was done long ago when performances and results were poor. 0-0 at home to Macedonia was dreadful.

I thought we played well yesterday and were undone by a suspect refereeing decision and an error of judgment by our goalkeeper in a 5 or 10 minute spell. After a nervy opening we looked very comfortbale and Russia were reduced to long shots having run out of ideas.

It depends on what you want. England have undoubtedly improved these past few months. Do you want that improvement to grind to a halt on the back of one defeat? Or do you think there's someone about who could not only get better perfdormances and results, but would also want to take the job and still want it when everyone turns nasty during a dodgy patch?
