Question The North Bank and your thoughts?

Scrap the experiment. It doesn't work as a 'home' end when shared with away fans. Not once have we kicked towards our home end since it was brought back into use.

900 in there today and not that much noise. We make more noise in W block and would make even more noise if X Block was opened as a well.

Use the North Bank as overflow area when we get bigger crowds.

A redeveloped North Bank as a safe standing area for just home fans would be great. But I suspect that is years away if even it happens at all.

It's dog****.

Crap view, a load of day trippers looking for their seat 5 mins before KO and getting irate because you slate the team at the end of the game
Someone said they have been using the NB as an overspill from the East Blues (comps) at times. So there’s bound to be players family and friends in amongst it. Not ideal when things are going badly, like today.

only time my comp ticket was in the north was for ebbsfleet. There was loads of space in the East blues that day. It wasn't an overall thing. Just where tickets were issued for on that one off occasion.
I enjoyed the banter sing off between the split blue voice crowd.
when I'm in the East I've noticed that since the split up of the blue voice between North and west, it's sounded nowhere near as !oud or good as when all the fans are together in the west.
I get it that some fans want the north bank back like olden days but from purely a selfish personal perspective I like it more when TBV are in top gear in the west. I feel it dominates the ground more and also any oppo fans.

But we haven't heard TBV in top gear in the North Bank yet? In Theory should smash the west bank noise.

I think what you say makes perfect sense. I want to hear that as I think you're very probably right plus I reckon you're far more likely to know than I am. I hope all TBV end up in one or the other but not split and return to creating the tremendous home atmosphere we are lucky it gives us.

We had 900 in there on Saturday and it wasn't that loud. That's the most we can get in there.
Doesn't help with not kicking towards the North Bank 2nd half and the fact we were not playing well.

But was it 900 TBV? The rest of the west is what - 5x the numbers as block w, but a tenth of the noise?
You won't get 900 TBV 'singers' in the North. Saturdays effort is the best it will get. Infact for league games I doubt we will ever get that many in there.

The only way is if its not shared with away fans. Even then I'm not sure it will return to the good old days.

It will never be the same as it was in the old days, people that think it will are off with the fairies.

It is a different culture nowadays, people go to football nowadays and expect to sit down and will get upset if people are standing (people even moan in safe standing areas in the Prem & at England matches). If it was all unreserved seating it would help but then if somebody sits in the back row they won't expect someone to stand in front of them. There isn't the legroom in certain rows so that makes it a problem.

Certainly would help if we kicked towards the north in the second half but I doubt we could win a toss on a Saturday at the moment.

And how they manage to get a safety certificate to a area that has no speakers working and therefore the only way to communicate to fans to evacuate in the event of an emergency would be the stewards acting like human windmills

Now closed to home fans until the final 4 games of the season

In response to survey results which showed that supporters want to relocate to the North Bank, and as part of our wider strategic facilities plan, we undertook works to the West side of the Solopress North Bank, which included a new bar, food wagon and refurbished toilet facilities.

The works increased the stadium’s working capacity from 8,500 to 10,500, which enabled us to sell additional tickets for our games against Charlton Athletic and Ebbsfleet United.

Since Ebbsfleet on Boxing Day, we have made the North available for home fans, enabling us to iron out teething problems and operational issues in anticipation of a potential movement of fans from their current seats to the North next season.

We have now gained the operational information that we require and, following a constructive and positive meeting with supporter groups last week, we have agreed to temporarily close the North Bank for home fans until the final four home games of the season.

In collaboration with the Blue Voice and other supporter groups, we will actively promote the transition to the North Bank for the last four home games, ensuring a smooth move for fans along with the launch of ‘Flag Day’ which will take place on the final home game of the regular season. This will also serve as a stepping stone towards a possible permanent relocation of the West Stand singing section from the 2025/26 season.

We appreciate the continued support and cooperation of our supporters and will provide further updates in due course. Supporters can continue to send feedback to the club through scanning QR codes located around Roots Hall or by contacting us on feedback@southend-united.co.uk.

@Shrimp and two veg will be having a Corona. :Smile2:
