The NBA Thread...

I may be completely on my own here, but does anybody else happen to watch any of the NBA?

Was a really great game last night between the Celtics and the Rockets. Celtics clinched the Atlantic Division previously and were 53-13 all season, while Rockets were definitely the form team on a W22 Streak chasing the world record.

Despite the Rockets having the best of the 2nd, Celtics dominated the 3rd and that was it, Rockets never got a look in and Boston continued to dominate over the Western teams. I'm a bit of a Celtics fan as it goes and i'd be more than happy to see them go all the way this year, if only to see Cassell get another title ring.

I watch it when I get a chance!
Affiliation switches between the Magic and the Knicks.
Always support the East in the All-Star game.

Think I'd far rather catch a NBA game in person than the NFL.

Not on your own at all :support: . I'm a Milwaukee Bucks fan, which has proved an utterly dismal experience these last few years. Although for that reason I too would be glad to see Sam Cassell win another Championship.

Don't watch it much now it's been moved from Sky, though I reckon I'll put in a few late ones for five's play-offs coverage.

Can't believe how well the Rockets have done these last few months, especially given that Yao has been out for the last dozen or so games. Looks like San Antonio may end up with quite a low seed for the play-offs, which should make things very interesting.

Hit and Miss season for you then... Magic not doing too bad at all and Knicks, well, they suck. Still. :whistling:

I was gutted to see it moved from Sky, I thought the only fix i'd get would be the BBA on Setanta but the five coverage is actually not bad at all, with FiveUS having the NBA 360 programme on during the afternoons and the game of the week on a Wednesday evening.

wierd, i watched this last night, having not watched a game for ages, and thought the Celtics looked awesome. Cant remember the name of the man who was bossing it, but he was awesome

Kind of what I said, thought the Rockets looked like they could come into it during the 2nd but Celtics stifled any chance in the 3rd and dominated the game.

As for the man bossing things, that would be either Garnett or Pierce, who were both awesome last night.

Garnett, thats the chap, never seen someone look so relaxed on a court... then suddenly, Bam... he's cut through 3 and slammed it home

Wonderful player is KG. Didn't quite have the players around him at Minnesota to win a Championship, but with the likes of Pierce, Allen and Cassell at Boston he may finally win the big one.

It's all very well being a twelve-time All-Star, but without a Championship to his name he'll probably fall just shy of all-time greatness.

Having just seen highlights of all the weeks games, Rockets owe an awful lot to Alston. He was brilliant against the Lakers and notched up 31 points with 8 3-pointers... Great for a point guard.

They've had a dire season... a 17% win ratio is poor, I mean, it's even worse than the Knicks :p

I remember when they unveiled Shaq and all the "I'm the king of Miami" business... Seems a far cry now.

Well it was only two years ago they won the Championship. I was on them that year at 4/1

I'm getting fed up with the NBA right now. Well, more specifically, I'm getting fed up with the Nuggets. I can't believe a team with so much talent is likely to miss out on the playoffs. Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Marcus Camby, and Kenyon Martin are all to good to be on vacation by mid-April.

The NBA is my 4th league in terms of North American sports, but I'm still a big fan. The last two years have been extremely disappointing for me as a Clips fan, we seemed to be ready for a real run, didn't trade our stars away, and then everything went wrong. And nobody really knows why.

You gotta like the Celts this year, not sure about Houston, time will tell. The Spurs are always a threat. Could be some surprises come play-off time.

Celtics have to be favourites... strongest squad I feel and they're playing well. I do quite like Houston, Even without Ming they've got a strong backbone and I really like what i've seen of their PG Alston.

I don't think that Boston has the strongest team in the NBA, but they have a huge advantage in that they play in the East. The teams in the West will have a dogfight on their hands just to reach the finals, whereas Boston only has the Pistons and maybe the Cavs to worry about. There are definitely teams that are considered to be the favorites in the West, but at this point it's not too hard to imagine any of nine different teams playing into June.

Also, as with any sport that uses a playoff system, the eventual winner is not the best team necessarily, but the team that is playing the best at the right time. You don't need to look any further than this past NFL season for proof of that.

Thing about the Celts though is they seem to perform better on the road against the Western teams... Thought I read somewhere that they were 12-2 against the Western teams on the road this season, although I could be wrong.

Big game in the West last night with San Antonio winning at Dallas. Not only that, but Dirk Nowitzki's been ruled out for two weeks.

I don't think this Dallas side will ever win a Championship - they will look back on the middle of this decade as their big chance but they always fell just short.

Just had a look at the latest standings and the West is unbelievably close. It's anyone's guess what order that top six is going to end up in.
