The Job Thread

Requiring multiple skills is the norm these days and if you don't have the required skill set then don't apply.

Most of the specs I read for development roles require five or six skills. Employers don't expect you to have them all but they will expect you to acquire them PDQ.

Which is why the projects never finish on time , the skills arnt there and people dont stay long term . I've worked in the IT game for 15 years , the only people i knew who could do all that were either on speed or savant's who had no interpersonal skills and people didnt want to work with them . The managers who wanted these people also by and large knew little about IT .

Skills that relate are fine (Desktop support - basic scripting to VB skills ) yes Hardware builds - Server builds yes . Hardware builds- Datawarehouse - to developing to router configuration/Network security no. Those who think they go to gether are at fault and are hiding their own ignorance.

Join a Winning Team

With Fabio Capello naming his 30-man England squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Outstanding Branding are also giving you the chance to join a winning team.

Sales Director, Andy Thorne said, "Due to sustained growth from business wins and investment in marketing, which has in turn increased profitability, we are now looking to add to our team in order to continue to offer our clients an unrivaled service."

He continued, "This is a real opportunity to join a growing company which prides itself on being truly ‘outstanding’ - not just in the way we work for our clients, but in every aspect of the way we conduct our business."

“We are a young, vibrant, forward-thinking organisation that likes to develop its talent and reward success. We are close to the train and tube services of London Bridge and there are some great facilities at our Head Office, such as an on-site Cafe/Deli; a pub which will be showing the World Cup matches; plenty of gyms and shops in the area; as well as the world famous Borough Market."

“We are truly excited by the next stage in our growth, and look forward to welcoming our newest team members this summer”.

If anyone is looking for a summer job this year then there is an excellent one available at Southend Hospital. I did it for a couple of years and it involved basic data analysis and data sifting and correcting. It would suit someone interested in data analysis and potentially working in the NHS/health information systems. Previous experience isn't needed but decent numeracy and computer skills (Excel especially) are important.

Not sure what the pay is like now days, It was about £7 p/hr last time I was there which isn't bad, hours are flexible too so don't have to work all week.

PM me if you want more details, and I'll let you know who to contact.

Jon
