I need a gardener! Anyone able to help? It's a bit of a jungle and needs a good tidy-up.

Being an IT bod im always on the look out for anything new , however the 1st/2nd line job is and exampe of why i dislike certain job descriptions , in the prefered part your basically asking for teh person to perform 2 different functions . 1 The support tech and 2 A DBA/ possible dataware house . Writing scripts and looking after a databse is a seperate jb in itself so no wander there wasn't to many replies. Its like asked for a skilled full time driver to also be their own mechanic or car designer !

Mate

No specific contacts for her but some general advice. It appears the job market in the UK is very much on a temp basis at the moment. Certainly all the people I spoke to whilst over there who recruit staff are only offering temp contracts rather than permenant ones...that's almost exclusively in retail banking and may be different in other areas though.

I'd say get signed up with some agencies and see what they can do for her. She can gain experience pretty quickly without tying herself to one job. It's certainly what the Kiwi's I know who've gone to London to work have done initially before getting something more permenant once they have a clearer idea what type of role they want.

Does she want to work in banking?

The bank I work for are crap but they do looking at our jobs board have vacanies in that area. Not sure what the money is like with little banking expereince but least its some work?

would recommend getting along to Reeds in the city and getting a temp job to start with

I thought about applying for Axe's job but saw it the same as you. I do desktop/tech support, but never get involved in DBA/SQL. Can't see how the 2 are connected myself!

It's like advertising for a DBA who can build and support BlackBerry's and software apps for desktops. In my experience, DBA's have enough trouble turning the PC on in the morning!

Requiring multiple skills is the norm these days and if you don't have the required skill set then don't apply.

Most of the specs I read for development roles require five or six skills. Employers don't expect you to have them all but they will expect you to acquire them PDQ.

Anybody know of any pest control / House clearance / Labouring / driving jobs available?

Would consider most jobs though willing to work long hours and overtime if needed.

Thanks
