Still hooked? All quiet on the pike front?Have you sussed it yet?So much 2 learn so little time ....Up date please....

Joined a pike forum in November, had a "fish meet" in the Norfolk Broads at the weekend and finally, finally got into my first pike...a whopping 22lb!
Once i work out how to put pictures up here i'll show you them!
Over the moon, a specimen river pike on my first catch, what a way to start!

Ahhh night fishing down Rochford Res as a teen with crate of stella and me mate smoking some fine bud :)

I do know that when my mate went last year he was asked by the bailiff to put any big catches into the member's lake:stunned:
So if it's big carp you're after don't be suprised if you don't catch on the day ticket waters. Let me know how it went mate.

oh right well spoke to him today and nothing like that was said, the top lake has 20lbs plus in it and the main lake has some nice cat in it

was ment to be going next week but seing as i could have a job by then thats been blown out the water :)

but if i do go then ill let you know

You mean this one.............................................Today i have started up the Essex region of the PAC (pike angling club) and will be having guest speakers, fish-ins and meetings with members and non-members alike all welcome.
The PAC is the single most club concerned with the welfare of pike in the UK and have regional assemblies all over the UK.
If anyone wants to know how or where to fish pike then get along to one of our talks/meets. Pm me in the first instance for general enquiries.
Thanks, Sean. (well it beats stressing over Southend)

Well I got right back into my fishing again Joined a little club water in whie rodding just out side of Chelmsford, yet to blank but it just isnt fishing well I managed to bag myself a 19 lb 2 oz mirror which happends to be the biggest out for 2 months.

I have a week off from the 1st of October and dont really fancy fishing club water can anyone know of anywhere good with a good head of 20s plus, with no more then a 2 hour drive

Billy Bests boot laces would love a few chips beside that on a plate.
Between 2001-2012 i fished at Whitby on boats an est 85 times ( my youngest son & me used to spend a week in June there every year, & i was able to wrangle business with fishing several times each year as well ).
Believe me, every year we used to return home with 1-2 cool boxes brimmed full of Cod, Ling, & Pollack fillets, as well as a few Coalies, Haddock, & Wolf fish.
Our best day ever was in 2007, when on one day between us, we caught 70 Codlings between 2 1/2 - 4 lbs. I was filleting until 10pm that night!. heaviest fish i caught there was a 15lb Ling, & in 2006 my son caught a 13lb Cod on the Sunday, & i did the same on both the Mon & Tues!.
We both witnessed seeing Minke & Pilot Whales, numerous Seals, Dolphins & a Porbeagle shark on our trips up to 26 miles off shore in depths up to 240 ft of water. I've got enough pics from our trips & so many stories to tell, i could easily write a book!.
So to answer your post after waffling on, every time i set off for Whitby, i'd tell Sandra to buy a sack of spuds, & start peeling them for my return!.

I got back into sea fishing about 6 or 7 years ago. Finally found some time since my first Saturday job at 13. Unfortunately my fishing mate moved away last year and has taken his boat with him.

Only ever went out in the estuary down to red sands etc. Some nice bass up to 6lb, a few skate over 10lb, which are both lovely fish if to eat when they come straight from the Thames. Some nice Smooth hounds up to 15lb down by the Maplin sands on a Sunday. Its restricted in the week because of the firing range.

Had a trip to Norway all planned and deposits paid. I was really looking forward too, for all sorts of reasons not just the fishing. Covid stopped that.

I thought the advice the last few years was not to eat fish straight from the Thames, thanks to Thames Water dumping record amounts of raw sewage.
