The current striker situation

Yeah but there is good and there is really good!

but you need to look at the current partnership which has a 100% win record.

Put McDonald in and th bigger defender will mark Clarke, which will make things harder for him.

In fairness Macdonald is no quicker than Harrold and has missed his share of chances this season too. Just glad we got Clarke, the guy is pure class.

Too early for calls of sign him up but the signs are very promising.

Don't forget the rumours on here though, that the fee to Sheff Weds & Leon's wages/contract has already been agreed for him to move permanently!

I just worry Laws gets the shove at Hillsborough (another loss last night for them I see) & the new manager comes in & recalls Leon & doesn't wish to sell him!

I am 99% sure that when you take any established player you agree a pre-loan contract so we basically say we will have him as long as we like him before you buy. The only people that can scupper the deal as far as I am aware are us or Leon.

Clearly this is not the case for people such as Kerry who is just hear from some match experience.

The whole point of the game is for the team to score goals.
For the first time in ages the team is scoring so the combination must be working. You cant only look at a strikers goal tally to see if he is doing well.
What about the runs he makes off the ball, the passes, the headers won, and generally the amount of problems he causes the defence?
Harrold seems to have his shirt pulled more than any other player ive seen which to me is a sign he is giving the defender a difficult time.
Leave it as it is.

To be fair, we've scored loads all season but we haven't been able to defend a good position in a game and that cost us dear. It seems to me that Clarke's presence looks to be the turning point when it is more likely re-jigging the defence to put a bigger physical presence in there. Of course, putting in 6' plus L.Clarke as well 6' plus Richards will also have helped defensively.

The rest of it, I agree with though. Harrold is still taking up the defenders' efforts by endlessly running in to channels and offering himself as a target every time. This gives room for Clarke to play in (how much room did he have to pick his passes against Gillingham, for instance?).

It might be a cliche about not being broken but two wins is two wins. However, let's also bear in mind that we've beaten, for my money, two of the worst teams in the division and it won't be as easy every week but this is as good a run as we'll get to get going.

Whilst I would rather see McDonald and Clarke long term what sort of message does it send out to Matt Harrold if you drop him after two good performances.

He should keep his shirt until he either plays badly or is suspended or injured if you ask me.

Yeah once again I'm not really Harrold bashing. In a way I meant to point out that Eric's come on loan for a month n not had a sniff really of the first team. As I said Ive been to both games with Leon in the side and Matty Harrold as played well. But Tilson does have a tendancy to leave things the same unless injury or suspension force it. Would Tilly drop someone if they're playing poorly alone coz for me he doesnt seem to unless someone comes off the bench n scores or said player gets injured or suspended. And we all know what he's like with his substitutions. I know it sounds like Tilly-bashing after 2 wins on the trot which is crazy but its not meant like that. It just seems we have a lot of strikers here and they dont get much of a chance due to Tilly's late subs policy.

And if you were Harrold and were dropped?

I would just like to see Mac and Clarke get a runout together to see how they get on. IMO Mac's pace as an addition would terrorise defences, along with his eye for goal.

Harrold has not done much wrong in terms of errors, but has he done enough to keep his place?

Well Clarke won't play against Blackpool next Tuesday as he's cup-tied, so that could be McDonald's chance to impress.

I would guess that Eric O is just here so that we can have a look at him.

He wasn't dropped, he's been injured.

He has been injured but was left out of the 1st team out of choice, the injury just added to his absence from the 1st team, Tilson has stated he thinks Charlie needs more time to settle into the club and the division.

Im sure he can be a good player for us but I think he will be used as a substitute for the time being.

Agree on that - the problem is he is far too honest for his own good and tries to stay on his feet instead of trying to get a free kick. Although this is something to be proud of IMO, it doesn't help you win games.

It's a luxury for a manager to have this kind of selection dilemma.

I feel that this simple solution is that you shouldn't change a winning formula.

As is the case with Collis in goal, I believe that Matt Harrold deserves to keep his place at the moment.

Harrold is working hard, his movement off the ball and his hold up play have improved considerably, Clarke is clearly enjoying having Harrold there to support him.

Such is the quality of the hold up play of Harrold and Clarke that it has enabled Bailey and Macca to provide additional support when on the attack.

We've also suddenly started to win the first and second ball in midfield.

Keep the faith with the current batch Tilly, with the competition for places being this hot it will hopefully keep the 11 players on the pitch working hard and giving 100%, and when those on the bench do get their chance they will be out to win the shirt and show Tilly what they can do.

I think the Eric loan was just in case Clarke didn't want to come here, or Sheffield Wednesday decided against it.

Still with Harrold and Clarke, two games, two wins, two goals for Clarke. Also, when defending set pieces we can bring back the front two and leave Black/Gower/Gilbert or whoever further forward.

Harrold has been very good in every game I've seen this season, so it wouldnt be fair to drop him. MacDonald was unlucky to pick up an injury. Think he will be on the bench alongside Flavs, Eric, Gilbert and Gower on saturday.

I wouldn't say that Harrold has been very good in all the games I've seen this season IMO, but I would stick with the Harrold/Clark partnership on the principle that if it aint broke, it don't need fixing [for the time being at least].

I'll give Harrold the benefit of the doubt for now, As he was pivotal in the goal at the weekend and worked well against Gillingham, but I think our most potent partnership is without a doubt MacDonald and Clarke.

We've seen how Leon sets up goals with clever through balls, MacDonald gets in these positions and he'll score... I don't think it's in Harrold's game to get into those positions.

No it isn't...but it was Harrold's work off the ball which helped to create the space which Bailey & then McCormack ran into.

You don't see Kerrea starting on Saturday?

Harrold and Clarke is working great, who gives a flying **** if he shinned a pass, they are working well. Charlie Mac looks like a very lively player but he needs a few more run outs from the bench before he can be considered a regular for me. Also seeing as Harrold is now gaining confidence and the boo boys are starting to get off his back why let him down by dropping him and getting him to build it back up. If we persevere the goals will come from Matty, he's due a goal and i think he'll grab one on saturday.
