Thanks Kev - but is a new manager needed?

Should Maher go?

Sadly I have changed my vote from on the fence to Kev must be replaced. Taking all that has gone on in his tenure and prospects for the future I don't think he is the right person to take us forward. It's not necessarily all about his way of playing, many teams have been successful playing that type of possession football but we have signed totally the wrong type of players to fit that system. The vast majority of these signings have been Kevin's. Any new man in charge would have a hard job getting regular wins out of this squad but you would hope that they would be able to sign players to fit their referred way of playing. For example signing players who have goals in their locker and also some badly needed pace. Whoever took over would have a difficult task with what looks like a reasonable but limited budget. We just cannot go on losing to part time teams and not even scoring a goal against them. We are miles away from returning to the EFL.

Interesting and sad as none of us want this but the "Yes Maher should go vote" is increasing, whilst the corresponding "renewing season ticket NO" vote is also increasing.

Sad times for our club.
Absolutely- never known SZ as torn on an issue as much as we are today (other than Flavs / Bart obvs). Would imagine most supporters are torn within themselves too.

Seen mentions of Buckingham & Lowe as replacements…. These have managed in the championship this season so please let’s be sensible. One that’s recently become available id like is Mark Bonner.

I think all supporters would like to see Kev and his team successful. What worries me is the lack of "never say die" or players wanting to play for the badge. The whole team has no leaders on the pitch, no voices and certainly atm all players are just turning up without desire. I don't know what Kev says to them to motivate them. but it is not working anymore and they all look disillusioned, that is without the talk of set up and selections.

Some call for him to go and let Currie and Bentley take over but surely they are just as much to blame as Kev, they must discuss transfers and game strategy between them so i feel they are as culpable as Kev.

I really don't know what the answer is but neither does our manager atm. We get the same sound bites every week, nothing is new and the management are sadly running out of the same excuses.

People ask for patience which i get but also fans expect the team to at least keep fighting but atm we look like a pack of powderpuffs with no direction from the management who should be giving that.. It is their job! The clock is ticking for Kev, he must know that and needs to respond on the pitch where it matters.

I really don't want to hear,"it will all be ok next season" i want to see improvements now.

Yes, the three should go. They have presided over a collective failure, it is not just Maher. Give a new coaching team a chance this season to prepare properly for next. Fresh air needed, get the cleaners in and start sweeping up the debris.

Maher and his band of brothers have to go and I include john still in that to. We need a massive reset now, we constantly have seen Maher being to predictable and negative in his approach to games which resulted in boring low scoring games and defeats to the likes of Sittingbourne and Maidenhead. What sealed it for me is last Saturday when Maher went with 532 against bottom 4 side hoping for draw...... that's unacceptable! The players haven't been good enough but I think the players have now lost faith in the management team and potentially would welcome more progressive attack minded manager. COSU you seriously need to act now before fans start voting with there feet and your so called sustainability model fails because your busisness model is heavily reliant on the fans to keep turning up to Roots Hall and investing into the club. With Maher here next season it could have damaging consequences to our attendances at Roots Hall. Act now before it's to late!

Now I've not been to either of the last 2 games so only seen the lowlights where we seem to have had a reasonable amount of play around the box without actually creating much to make their keeper do any work. That is probably just what is shown I admit & we are no doubt worse than that I suspect.

Even in the Fylde victory I thought the selection was wrong &, despite their result at Halifax, scoring at least 4 was par against a team who I thought were very poor. Watching us unable to be at par with some teams in this league who basically play park football, compared with what we’ve seen in the past, is very frustrating. We have no right to dominate these teams but being competitive is a minimum & we struggle even with this. In my former life the likes of me & @BEERMONSTER would go on a Tuesday night to Carlisle & see us lose pathetically, so I’ve seen some very poor football from us coached by some appalling managers however we are now being cack at a lower level of cackness.

There are views I’ve seen from the 20% of posters who I see as rational “non-hater” human beings, regrettably SZ posting is degenerating in that aspect I believe, that says to me things have got worse since I last saw a game. I simply don’t understand the constant tinkering with the formation &/or personnel. Being consistently inconsistent in either play or selection is doing us no favours & I don’t believe what has happened in the last weeks from, unlike many on here, my non-expert view is the right approach.

I’ve explained my “No” vote before & although not something I'd like to say but I'm afraid I've now changed to “On the Fence” which probably seems illogical given I’ve not been at the last couple of games. I’ll be at 2 of the next 3 RH entertainments & if things don’t show some improvement I’ll probably say that the status quo cannot remain. I know some people don’t understand how anything other than a metaphorical firing squad is good enough for KM but I’d like to see some level of humanity allowed given what he went through over the last couple of years.

It’s also very concerning about the Anti-COSU faction that seems quite prevalent so I’d like to know from some of them what they think the alternative is?

If Kev and co were to walk/get sacked, I'd be looking at the Eastbourne Borough manager Adam Murray or Worthing's Chris Agutter as replacements. Both having stellar seasons in the league below and both progressive in their management style.

Eastbourne very sound defensively with Kensdale featuring, apart from losing to Torquay at the weekend, but scoring seems an issue since George Alexander's purole patch came to an end. Think Agutter would be a slightly better choice.

Suggested Murray as he has a bit more managerial experience and I've been to a couple of their games this year as a friend of mine is one of their sponsors. Despite the fact they've not scored a boatload, some of the football on show was night and day to what we're being treated to right now. They're punching well above their weight too.

I believe in all matters Southend United COSU with honesty and integrity look to achieve the best long term outcomes. Time frames and approach might not sync with the views of some of our fanbase across the differing aspects of the Football Club but as individuals within their own business life's and coming together they are winner's and therefore ultimately in the end to quote:-
"Life is filled with difficult
decisions, and winners are
those who make them"
I have no doubt this will be the case and outcome in respect of COSU.

It’s alright guys we are playing a full time team tomorrow so might have a chance after losing back to back to part timers recently. Question is - does Maher change anything tomorrow?

Don’t know either so this may be a tad unfair.
It feels Mark Moseley ish….
