Text an offence

I see on the official site that fans are encouraged to 'grass' on violent or offensive behaviour going on at Roots Hall during matches. How many bogus texts do you think they will get and how long will it be before the poor despatched stewards get fed up with this game of soldiers?.

Are you saying that the atmosphere is generated by offensive, abusive and violent behaviour ?

Or that everyone will be so busy texting the club complaining that they will forget to shout and chant ?

Bogus texts? As if ! How about there's a bloke in the visitors dug out who keeps swearing & wont sit down-'ave him out!

I agree with True Blue, it's another stupid, pointless measure introduced by the club. It's not as if there's regular trouble at games. The club are just trying to look innovative and PC as usual. Chucking people out for swearing is ridiculous!

It may not work but a very good publicity showing from the club. They are standing up and saying that the club won't tolerate offensive behaviour and language. In all honesty nothing will be done, but the club will get brownie points for this initiative from the FA.

Its innoventive! i will give them that. but just lacks that little bit of common sense. Especially when I rarely see any trouble at our games - even when Col Ewe or Borient are down. But all the same well done the club for trying something new. Shouldn't that be commended?

This is just the next step from those companies who ask their employees to grass up their fellow workers who they feel are in some way breaking the code of conduct. Unfortunately such "whistle-blowers" hotlines are indicative of the way the world is "progressing"!!!

I could be wrong here, but didn't they introduce a new rule last season saying mobiles were banned while play in progress?!

Yes, there is such a rule:

4.Mobile telephones are permitted within the ground, provided that they are used for personal and private use only, but must be switched off during the match.

Taken from The Customer Charter.

I would imagine that that is exactly what it is designed to avoid, The "violater" will not be able to identify the "complainer" as it is anonymous and therefore will not be able to exact any revenge,

However the more paranoid may just start t%&tting anyone with a mobile....
