Already got my terrace ticket for next week, who needs a degree anyway?!

my throat is ruined, my knee is ruined, head is sore inside from beer and outside from the scenes when we scored!

What a great day! The pyro looked good IMO! Bring it on to Morecambe .. Should all bring some inflatables get a real party atmosphere

i assume you're referring to the flare. Flares are illegal. Do we really want that kind of negative attention from the FA? Especially when we're so close to League One!

No I was referring to the smoke bombs. Also I completely miss wrote what I intended to say. I didn't mean bring pyro to morecambe I meant the atmosphere from today! Sorry

It wasn't a flare, it was a smoke grenade. Totally different and completely harmless although I would agree, not well thought out. I really think people are overeacting here.

Flare/smoke grenade, I believe they are both illegal at football games. (Admittedly the former is more serious)

I 100% agree that we should bring our great support to morecambe to see us over the line, but let's do it inside the laws :)

as someone mentioned, blue and white bog rolls look really good as do inflatables

We have a little girl aged around 6 sit next to us, she was very frightened by the whole thing. It's not an over reaction, these things are illegal and the club doesn't need the trouble that will come with it from the FL just because a few idiots thought it was clever.

If you dont want to be mis interpreted , perhaps you should consider using the correct terms . Pyro indicates Fire, infact it means fire in latin. So by saying the pyro looked good there was an unequivocal insuation that it was a flare,
if it was a cold smoke canister (ie a cardboard container) Then whilst the fire risk is minimal its still insensitive and possibly inconsiderate for those around.
if it was in a tin, then it would be a hot smoke canister (exothermic reaction therefore could be referred to as pyro) then it was dangerous as well.

Personally not a fan, primarily because of the FA legislation that means it could cost the club money etc. But if I am not allowed to have a fag in the corner away from everyone at ht because of the smoke......

They also can cause a great distraction to opposition goalkeepers.

Often Willie Coulson would dart down the wing and fire in pinpoint crosses to Chris Guthrie, who would nod into an empty net, because the oppo goalkeeper was busy tidying up the bog rolls in the goalmouth.

I recall Workington's great German goalkeeper - Peter Hamenpickel - let a tame Stuart Brace effort through his legs when it took a wicked deflection from a Charmin special thrown from the North Bank in 1974.

Though the goal was credited to old Bracey, we all knew Charmin got the final touch!

Yep fantastic, apart from the morons who ruined the tribute to the Bradford 56, and those with the flares. Was good to hear the old ground rocking, and looking forward to Will Atkinson posting some of the video he shot at the end as they were walking round.
What flare???

What flare???

I'm sorry for not knowing the correct terminology, I now know from Firestorm's post that they were clearly hot smoke canisters. Still amounts to the same issue, in fact probably worse for those around it as it absolutely reeked.

really my daughter was 4 and she wasnt in the slightest scared about seeing some blue smoke 50 yards away

I would imagine it was a cold smoke canister myself , particulary as a smell has been mentioned.

As we sit in U block, I would suggest we were closer than 50 yards. It wasn't just the smoke, it was the reaction by the stewards, the police and the supporters. She clearly knew something was going on but didn't understand it and therefore was frightened.

They weren't in a cardboard canister Gary, definitely metal.

I bet she was, bless her!

There's a fine line between creating a great atmosphere and going over the top at a football ground. It is, after all, a charged environment, but doing anything to escalate and enhance the chance of trouble is surely a big no no!

We are a really good family club.

People post constantly on here about getting more people along to the Hall, the next generation and so on.

Think we should lead by example as supporters. All of us.

What flare?????

Splitting hairs and completely irrelevant. Both are banned and should not be brought into a ground and certainly not thrown onto the pitch mid-game!!!

The way TBV behaved during the silence and the idiot in south lower was nothing short of classless and makes us all look like bloody morons!

totally agree with this .
Thew guys outside would not have realized the minutes silence was going on - obvious . Why some idiot decides to shout ' shut up you xxxxx' is incredible. What response did he expect, and then further idiots reply. Is shutting up for 60 seconds really that difficult. I don't think some people appreciate how disrespectful many people (myself included ) find this.

I'll just stop you there and tell you now that 99% of that block is disgusted that the minutes silence was broken. It was one individual who unfortunately couldn't keep his mouth shut after Luton fans were singing outside the ground (as stated in a previous thread). Don't tar everyone in that block with the same brush, as 99% of the fans in W block and blocks surrounding were clearly disgusted at what happened. It's a shame that it happened tbh, as it's detracting from the atmosphere created by the fans yesterday, who were absolutely superb all game long.

A huge game with a magnificent atmosphere.
Anyone who deliberately shouted during the silence for those people at Bradford are idiots whatever team.
BUT...only Southend United fans can win a momentous game where the backing was incredible - and still argue like children.
TBV were fantastic. The Southend United support was amazing.
We won people - we won!!
