Shea Stadium, 1965......no-one played stadiums back then, no-one would have dreamed of doing so before The Beatles came along. For all those stadium bands (like Queen) who followed, the Fab Four paved the way.

The first is very rearly the best , and remember they became popular as Teen idles not so much for their music per sa (which came later) .Stadiums were the next logical conculsuion for venues (im sure the Yanks started them first as well)

So they were teen idols, so what? That's POP music, which when done well is the most awe-inspiring music in the world. Those early songs were amazing, classics which are as familiar to many people as the nursery rhymes they grew up with.

Later stadium gigs only improved because the technology improved. If you could take The Beatles in their prime and give them Wembley Stadium now with a modern sound system and the standard budget of a stadium gig and they would blow everyone else out of the water!

Well if you tried to use teen idols these days you'd be laughed at ;)No i disagree , they wouldnt , would be fun , but Queen in their prime would simply blow them away , they developed the stadium anthem classics of We are the Champions and We will Rock you , both actually far simplar songs then most pop (but then pop is only becuase its well popular). The Beatles were new , and whipped a similar frenzy to Elvis , Cliff and the Shadows and all the new boys , but so did Queen , and in many cases (rocking Rio, their Japanese tours, the South African tours ) far far out classed the contemperies and peers . Did they improve their stage craft , yes , did they become better then the Beatles , yes . No dening what the did create was amazing at the time , and inspired manner , but Queen take it improved it and became the better band , inspiring in places even the beatles didnt.

The Beatles inspired a nation and generations of new musicians

Queen inspired a 1 trick (Mres T) comedian to produce a tat musical

I like both of them but for me I think queen edge it with getting flash gordon and highlander as I hated yellow submarine far too weird !
