Whilst Swindon's efforts are quite touching, I never really understand clubs and fans busting their balls to get a game on. It's a long season, the game will get re-arranged. Why is it so important that it goes ahead Saturday rather than some other date?
Add to that, I think it's likely to be fruitless. The likelihood of it not freezing overnight and staying that way tomorrow, regardless of the amount of snow on it is negligible.
Probably the most likely scenario is that their efforts will mean that the game won't get called off until quite late, thus annoying fans, especially away fans, which sounds vaguely familiar.
The covers may be enough to stop the freezing....
You might be right, but the predicted -7 or so may well test them!
Another point, is it not perhaps irresponsible to go ahead? If the general advice on the locale is not to travel unless strictly necessary, which I assume is the case, given the conditions, is it wise to encourage people to make a journey to a football match, especially away fans?
I agree that they should postpone it now. I really don't see the point in all the blood sweat and tears to play a match that can simply be re-arranged.
We already have a fixtures backlog and have only played 2 or 3 games in 5 weeks due to teams being in the FA Cup. YOu know that cup we can't get past bloody Histon to get into the 2nd round? Hartlepool and Millwall were both in the cup and already had Northampton called off as well so... keen not to have any more backlog.Whilst Swindon's efforts are quite touching, I never really understand clubs and fans busting their balls to get a game on. Got to agree, there's going to be massive banks of icy snow round the edge as well, so the potential for injury there shouldn't be overlooked either. Maybe the season will get extended if this kind of weather carries on!
MORE PICTURES... WE are working into the night with the floodlights on to clear the pitch, even Danny Wilson is out there to help lol
