Swindon match on/off

Guys, i think the game might be off as i've heard from a reliable source that the people who supply catering for corporates at Swindon have been told not to turn up for work tomorrow. Got a friend whose attached to recruitment in Swindon.

With more snow now falling in Wiltshire and freezing temps by day and night forecast. I would be shocked if this game goes ahead. Get planning that shopping trip with the missus lads....

Correct that's why am playing football tomorrow been doing this fivehit for long enough now to have some idea if the game will play or not and looking at the weather at start of week I said I wasn't going so I didn't make any travel plans but if game on then ill sort travel tomorrow morning even if I drive alone

Let's just hope it is going ahead then. It's all very well saying that they are "confident" it will be playable, but a decision needs to be taken and stuck to by early tomorrow morning at the latest I'd suggest and preferably tonight to allow the word to get out. Apparently more snow may fall in the Swindon area later today (just started again here in Exeter and it's pushing eastwards) and if the temperatures drop again that won't be good news.

Don't worry we wont call it off 10 minutes before kick off and annoy those fans who travel down ;)

Not our fault, blame that **** of a ref from the other night, although people may have broken limbs on the ice trying to get into the stadium :finger:

Seeing the weather today in Wiltshire and the forecast .......could be that the boys will have an even longer rest than they thought?

I just rang swindon fc and they told me they are doing every thing possible to clear pitch and cover it for tonight, but it is still snowing allitle now,but the roads will be more of a probblem than anything else she said. fingers crossed. She said ring latter.:darkcloud:

We have done everything possible to try and get it on. I mean hiring covers at 4 grand, getting grit in, clearing the car park etc but fan safety is paramout. The roads right now are hell (See below) once this ices over tonight... got no chance really...

I'm due out of the 7.30 am train out of Darlington tomorrow to get to this one. If it gets called off on the way my return ticket only allows me to travel back from Kings Cross to Darlington on the 8.30 pm
Just to add to the potential excitment someone at work told me this morning that there's a steam train due out of Darlington at 7.30am as well and hordes of trainspotters are expected to be there to see it!
The joys of following Southend!

Anybody wanting to know what its like in Swindon today, put on itv now. The news is on and they have a reporter in Swindon reporting on the bad weather there.

Just as the camera pans to show the blanket of snow they'll cut to an advert break before returning to catch the last part of an "And, finally" piece about a rescued kitten.

Whilst Swindon's efforts are quite touching, I never really understand clubs and fans busting their balls to get a game on. It's a long season, the game will get re-arranged. Why is it so important that it goes ahead Saturday rather than some other date?

Add to that, I think it's likely to be fruitless. The likelihood of it not freezing overnight and staying that way tomorrow, regardless of the amount of snow on it is negligible.

Probably the most likely scenario is that their efforts will mean that the game won't get called off until quite late, thus annoying fans, especially away fans, which sounds vaguely familiar.
