Quote[/b] (shrimpereeee @ Sep. 26 2006,19:57)]Sunderland have made an approach to take Freddy on loan now and have offered to pay a transfer fee of £1.75million in January.

Ron is being placed under extreme pressure from Freddy's agent to agree because Sunderland will significantly increase his wages.

Watch this space.
To be honest, this rumour is the one that is most worrying. I know shrimpereeee and if the source of his comment is who I think it is then this is certainly true and I doubt Freddy will be here much longer.

The agent is obviously touting Freddy about to get the huge wage hike and even if it isn't Sunderland he goes to the lad will have £££ signs in front of his eyes. Who could blame him? I'm sure any of us in paid employment would leap at the chance of a 5 fold (or even bigger maybe) leap in wages just for travelling to the other end of the country for a couple of years. He can always come back South if it doesn't work out.

The only surprise is that Freddy played his worst game ever against the Mackems at the Hall and that would be one side I would have thought may not have been that interested based on the comparitive ease with which they kept him quiet.

I have a very bad feeling over this.
They have an excess of strikers - maybe they wanna chuck in a player too?

Stead, Yorke, Connolly, S.Elliot (Class), Brown, Mocquet - cannot see them wanting to add Eastwood to that list too?...

Stead I don't think is a Keano type of player. He couldn't cut the mustard in the Prem and I suspect he's on borrowed time up there. Hardly prolific.

They'll want to bring in players who they see are better than what they've got. Obvioulsy they put Freddy in that category.

Eastwood on loan to Sunderland WOULD be a great, money making deal, without the threat of relegation it would be, but we must keep him just to stay up.

Otherwise we could loan him out, he wacks em in at SAFC, his price-tag dramatically rises, and we sell him for big dosh. This said I'd rather keep him for his whole career. Can't see it happening though

Or we could KEEP HIM HERE, he "wacks" em in at SUFC, his price-tag dramatically rises, and we sell him for big dosh.

yes but I personally think It would rise higher him being at another club, because they would definately want him, fair point though.

£1.75m- youre having a laugh? Hes worth double that at least. Who'd wanna live in that sh!thole and working for 2 useless Paddys anyway?

Working for Roy Keane I must think is the most attractive thing about playing at Sunderland, not that Roy Keane is attractive...

A quote from ALS (A Love Supreme-Sunderland Fanzine) backed up by a Sunderland season ticket holder who was in their boardroom for the last home match?!

"Sunderland are very close to grabbing Southend’s striker Freddy Eastwood on an emergency loan basis with a £1.75m move being guaranteed when the transfer window next opens. Eastwoods, 23, has a decent record in the lower leagues (55 goals in 97 games) and has also impressed this term. Pompey also want the striker, and it’s a surprise that his agent isn’t pushing for the striker to sign for Harry Redknapp’s side. Then again, maybe Freddy has just seen the light. £1.75million? That's a bit steep don't you think."

I know that the agent who recently met Ron Martin was fresh faced and not long out of University. Maybe he belongs to the same company as Gerrard's agent.
Freddy is signed up to David Beckham's agency who have a load of different agents on their books. Each player gets assigned to one of their agents. Fred's agent is the same one that Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher use.
