Sunderland loan move for Eastwood?

[b said:
Quote[/b] (Slipperduke @ Sep. 26 2006,10:21)]3, The story hinges on the fact that Sunderland could exploit an emergency loophole. Can they? Can one of the biggest squads in the division go to the FA and say that they really need a striker because they can't fulfill their fixtures?
This actually isn't that relevant as the term "emergency loan" is merely a way of the FL allowing clubs to take players on loan outside the window. The FL were forced to accept the new regulations, yes clubs do take advantage of a loophole in terms of FIFA but the FL will allow any loan to take place.

It's full of if's but IF Sunderland do approach us in terms of loaning Freddy and IF Freddy does want to go (which I doubt) then the only way I can see ANY chance of a potential "loan now pay later" deal is if Sunderland provide us with a striking alternative in return......and Jon Stead's just asked for a loan move

The use of the emergency "loophole" is only in the case of goalkeepers. If Sunderland or any club have all their strikers injured then basically that is tough sh!t.

Not so, you'll see a lot of loans between now and January and most of them won't be goalkeepers.

Yes that is right of course. The window is open now for loan moves of course for any players.

What I should of said is that when the loan window is closed, the only loans allowed are for goalkeepers as an emergency signing.

Let's have a think. We're 20th in the table. Scoring is a bit of a problem. I know - let's loan our top scorer out!

I think not, somehow.

Thought that's what you probably meant

Eastwood will not even consider a move outside of the M25 region, maybe reading, sunderland no chance.

Oh dear. If these sorts of rumours are springing up now, God knows what it'll be like when Freddy actually starts playing as well as he can.

Quote[/b] ]You also have to remember RM has openly stated he's not for SALE let alone available to go out on loan. No matter what is printed in the tabloids and heard on the rumor mill I really do think Freddy will still be here come the January transfer window.

Long term there is FAR to much at stake this season to let your (potential) star striker go anywhere.

Imagine these scenarios if you will.

1. Freddy scores 15/17 goals this season. Helps secure CCC football for the club next season thus guaranteeing the development of Fossets Farm, re-newed season cards, TV revenue etc.

2. Freddy goes out on loan (or sold) We miss those 15/17 goals and end up in a relegation dogfight we eventually lose thus relegating us back to League 1. Fossets Farm development is put into jeopardy. Lost revenue from season card holders and TV etc.

You get the picture.

Look at it from a business perspective rather than from a footballing one and I don't think we should be overly worried about what we see in the papers or in the media at large concerning Freddy being sold or loaned out.

Too right, this rumour is boring, please change the channel!

From what I saw on Sunday I think a fitter Ricketts could well help Freddy recapture his best form (he'd also complement Harrold quite well too).

We have to remember though Sunderland are a "Big Club" like Derby so they have a godgiven right to sign our best players...

Clear off Mackems!

Sunderland have made an approach to take Freddy on loan now and have offered to pay a transfer fee of £1.75million in January.

Ron is being placed under extreme pressure from Freddy's agent to agree because Sunderland will significantly increase his wages.

Watch this space.

Apparently Freddy has recently changed agents.

I know that the agent who recently met Ron Martin was fresh faced and not long out of University. Maybe he belongs to the same company as Gerrard's agent.

Well you'll all have the opportunity to put this and other questions to Ron Martin at the Q&A session after close of business at the Shrimpers Trust AGM on October 19th (assuming your a member that is).

Blatant plug over

To be honest, this rumour is the one that is most worrying.  I know shrimpereeee and if the source of his comment is who I think it is then this is certainly true and I doubt Freddy will be here much longer.

The agent is obviously touting Freddy about to get the huge wage hike and even if it isn't Sunderland he goes to the lad will have £££ signs in front of his eyes.  Who could blame him?  I'm sure any of us in paid employment would leap at the chance of a 5 fold (or even bigger maybe) leap in wages just for travelling to the other end of the country for a couple of years.  He can always come back South if it doesn't work out.

The only surprise is that Freddy played his worst game ever against the Mackems at the Hall and that would be one side I would have thought may not have been that interested based on the comparitive ease with which they kept him quiet.

I have a very bad feeling over this.
