Bradys comments on tilly

What a fycking disgrace. You no nothing
About last season. Try asking ron why he didnt
Pay the players and how tilly performed
Miracles with no players and no cash

If Tara says nothing, then the club get criticised for being silent and people will draw their own conclusions that no news means nothing will happen and we're being shafted.

We know the CPO's are holding things up, there has been some communication to be fair. Until that is resolved it is just a guessing game and that's why I dont understand them coming out with another "We hope" kind of statement.

start the stadium my arse, sounds like another stunt by the club to make you get next seasons season card in hope the the stadium is ready for the season after and then you get first digs on the best seats, rubbish.

Can't help but agree. I thought the Club had learned from their mistakes but it seems not.

Can anyone give more details on this thing fbm was talking about on the inside of the paper about where the money is going to go?

Club costs.

Income 3m.

Expenditure.

Players wages...1.35m which goes up to 1.8m with management and medical staff.
Insurance/support costs/hotels etc...600k.
Operational and match day staff.......500k.
The youth setup..............................600k.
Commercial costs............................150k
Maintenance and business rates........200k.

That is all that is printed.

Interesting things in the rest of the article

Blackpool offer for Bil was an inital 200k , it was a strategic decision taken with PS to keep him which overrode the temptation to take the Finacial only option

We currentlt take in 3M pa
With out goings of
1.35 on players wages
0.45 management and medical
0.6 Insurance, and other costs (hotels etc)
0.5 Operational and matchday staff
0.6 on youth
0.15 commercial
0.2 maintenance and business rates

Now that would equate to an annual loss of 850K , however given that he also states "we're now losing less than 100k a month when it was nearly 200k before" that does not quite stack up (but it does not appear to include any tax liability !!)
I would imagine that the 3M in takes into account the season tickets which have been used to repay the loan / Charterhouse debt and may well be reduced by the lower than expected gates .

He also says we could also survive as a league two club at a rickety old stadium but even then we would have to lower our ewage bill

funny how the club pays for all of this, i dont think so, for starters the players are made to pay for some of their over night hotels out of their own pockets sometimes and as for the youth teams, this recevies payments made by the shrimpers trust as well to help them on their way as well as other equipment that sometimes is needed, the club dosnt mention much about that now do they.

Have you considered a career as an auditor?

.....which would be part of the INCOME!

Where did you hear that from?

I spoke a players and a member of the coaching staff last night, they have yet to be paid for January.

If we are not paying our staff/players again, how can we possibly build a stadium?

We (Southend United Football Club Limited) won't be building a stadium.

It's likely to be another subsidiary of Martin Dawn plc who build the stadium. Now they don't have the money either, so through a combination of Sainsburys and asset-backed loans, they will be lent the money but this will be lent with strings attached so that the money can only be used in certain ways (ie to build the stadium) and it won't all be lent at once. This is all fairly standard and I have worked on more deals like this than I care to remember.

The issue isn't so much how can we fund a stadium, but how can we fund the club in the meantime.

I am hopeful that Southend will be a Prem club in say 5 to 6 years.

Indeed, it's like Sturrock saying he's hopeful we can challenge for the play-offs. We shouldn't be too upset if it doesn't happen.

OK, so some of the time the players have to pay for overnight hotels out of their own pockets. So you're saying that the club therefore does pay for overnight hotels?

thought most people already knew this, players are given options sometimes on how to get to certain games and the club will only fork out so much, it happens at most clubs, and if you are a member of the shrimpers trust then you already know how much the trust help out not just the youth teams but all parts of the club.

I would imagine that the trust sponsorship is included in the income and if the club doesn't actually pay the hotel bills (ie the players do) then that will nor be an expense to the club and not included either

their are certain gains by the club in staying overnight in hotels as it keeps the whole squad together and can plan tactics etc with plenty of time and avoids delays in getting to the ground and leads to better prep for games so in lots of cases the club have to fork out for the bills, who wants to go to away to crewe on a tuesday night and travel on the same day, it helps when all players are together on the day of a game, a nice meal together before the big off and not being so tired from travel after a good nights sleep.

For those on here with accounting knowledge, do these figure look like a reforescasted annual budget to you , as opposed to the actuals for ye 31/7/10 ?

That might explain the ,albeit vague, loss not equating to 100K per month

Soccer Stadiums PLC isn't it?

dont get me wrong, the players dont foot the bill most of the time, the club does that, or on certain games as in the cups the hosting club also foots a % of the traveling club.
