If Steve is not going to be fit for the Wrexham game, I would worry about Collin dealing with the long throws coming into the box which Wrexham score a lot of goals from. Think we would need another loan keeper

Not being rude to Colin but he's not the standard (yet) of keeper we need if we are to be a top half side.

The Fact that Arnold is so badly injured he can't stand in the team photo means we are in serious trouble.

Plus the fact we are the joint second lowest scoring team, we are putting alot of pressure on our massively improved defense to even get a point.

It's a horrible situation because I wouldn't even be thinking this if we could score a few more goals

My father always said (Who was a keeper) "A keeper is only as good as his defence" but when most of the goals we concede are from outside the area ... It makes you worry ...

I'm a defender ... And I've played in teams with solid goalkeepers and you'd want the opposition shooting from range as it meant we'd done our job well. We'd pride ourselves in stopping and clearing crosses, we'd never allow the ball to drop in the box. And half chance that did slip through, our keeper had it.

But in games when we had the sub keeper in, we always felt nervous and sometimes you'd do the hard bit and a shot from outside the box would somehow trickle in ...

Maybe I'm overreacting ... I've only seen Colin once this season and he didn't have much do.

But he makes me nervous as a fan and exactly how I felt when playing with the sub keeper.

I'm not saying Colin is the problem... I'm just saying if we are building a team on the basis that we aren't going to score many but keep clean sheets... Colin isn't the solution. We need a seasoned professional between the sticks

Or we need to start scoring ... Fast

Backs can be terrible things as no doubt many on here can attest !

I know of 4 people , including my daughter and father at one time, who all did terrible things like, sneeze or bed down to pick something up and then found they could barely walk for months. My brother had to be carried off a golf course and weeks of rest and therapy finally helped him to move normally.

Im hoping for Steve his back problem is not one of these, but one maybe he has managed before, and its not too long before he is back in action

But otherwise I hope our triallist is genuinely up to a good level and wish Steve a quick recovery as it can be very painful,

It really can't be that difficult surely to get a loan keeper in. Most EFL teams have 3 in their squads at least.

I was thinking the same thing, there's loads of keepers just sitting on the bench each week or not even making the first team squad. We must be able to get a decent quality keeper on loan for a short period.

lets be honest here , and drop the emotions , we need a keeper ASAP
Correct. Collin has a decent amount of potential but he is not good enough to be a number 1 at this level just yet.

Would prefer to see an old head with a good amount of playing time in the past (not just someone who has been a career number 2).

Or, if not that, then a young talented keeper from a Prem level side who needs game time and is already fully adept at playing out from the back.

Tend to agree with some of the above. However, Collin has done as well as could be expected and definitely has a bright future. In my opinion, he has started just as well as Dan Bentley did. Whether he becomes as good as Dan is now, only time will tell. I would prefer to be guided by management on this one, whatever they decide is good enough for me.

Just because Arnold wasn't in the team photo doesn't mean he can't stand up. I gather he lives up in the Midlands so he may be getting treatment closer to home.

I agree that we probably need an experienced keeper in on loan. What happened to that lad who came to us a couple of years ago from Gateshead?

I was sure he lived London way,

James Montgomery was the goalie. Back at Gateshead now.

Yes just what you would want to do isn't it- drive all the way down from Midlands with a bad for a photo that was going to be redone anyway for Lopata. If he was really lucky he would have caught a couple of traffic jams as a bonus :-)

Collin has done well and could be the future no1 at the club but we still need another keeper in as we can't keep playing without one on the bench.

One of the worse things you can do when recovering from a bad back is driving a car for no reason….. Like a photo shoot 2 hours away.

You can stand and move about but rest is either in bed or on the lounge floor including face down if you have to….You can even move around in an arm chair but you can’t when driving. The muscles can spasm and set you back a week in recovery.

Some of you are forgetting we all go to work once our injury is 80+ % ok….. A professional keeper is taking a huge risk if he is not 100 %.

Treatment is also not just NHS and private 30 min appointments…. He could be a specialist centre for 3 days etc…… Or of course he could have just said b******s to that, I’ll wait for the next one.
