Suits

Which Suit Colour is most acceptable....

Just threw the question across to my wife as she's an Image Consultant (like a real-life Trinny & Susannah type but without the "dramatised for Television" issues). She advises people on the latest seasonal fashion trends, colours that suit them, what to wear, 'what not to wear', etc..

Her view is that the main thing is to know yourself and know your style. Whether the colour of the suit is right or otherwise depends on who's wearing it.

Brown is a fashion colour... quite trendy, quite cool but it doesn't shout "promote me, I'm coming through". The old adage is dress for where you want to be, not for where you are right now.

As for the shoes, brown with navy is good.
Brown with black/dark grey, be careful. In fact, buy some black shoes.

Ooooh, I quite like my brown boots with charcoal grey suit (reminiscent of what England wore when they flew to Japan/Korea in 2002). I'll be donning that for a wedding next month, probably with pink Pierre Cardin cutaway collar/double cuff shirt & navy/white diagonal striped tie!

i think for a wedding that is fine as it is a formal and informal occasion, professionaly speaking i really don't think it would give off the right image.

Probably right there. Don't think I'd wear that combo for an interview. In fact I've found white shirts are really the only way to go for succeeding in the recruitment process!

What he said...

And remember the part about the importance of who is wearing the outfit. If you can wear a tea-cosy on your head and carry it off, then do it. There are no hard and fast rules, just a bit of guidance.

Though not in the searing heat, as sweat pouring down your face is really not attractive

But how do you get past the old adage:

"Never brown in town"

It is a rule that applies to business suits. Mrs. Glasgowsufc may be grinding her teeth, but certainly in legal & banking circles, the incidence of brown shoes is incredibly rare and can lead to only two conclusions - that the wearer is:

(a) Italian; or
(b) a ****.

:thump:

Undoubtedly, brown shoes & a navy suit is the only way to go when wearing your suit as a "lounge suit". But for business dress, it's black shoes all the way. Has to be. And completely agree with Mrs. Bank-Hank about brown suits... you only get away with them if you're in "mee-jah"; you don't see them in the City, that's for sure.

Well I'm stuck out here in Rayners Lane, so I reckon I'm alright (although I am making a foray in to town for a meeting shortly)

I remembr years ago going to a match in Sheffield, seeing a bloke wearing a bright royal blue suit, bright red shirt and bright royal blue tie, typical northerner really. Just looking at him you could see his attitude "thick and Proud of it" all over his face.
