So last night on the train i saw a guy (Not Austin Powers) wearing an Electric Blue Suit. I think its wrong, whereas i seem to have a mixed response in the office. What colour suit is most acceptable in the office?

You mean blue as in electric/royal blue?
That is definitely wrong, no matter where you wear it.

Most outlandish/fashionable I'd go for the office would be chocolate brown. Maybe a nice dark sand colour for a wedding too. Can't beat a nice navy blue or charcoal grey suit as far as I'm concerned!

Jesus - thats quite a fashion mistake especially if it was an electric kind of blue. Although have you considered that he could have been on his way back from a long day working at Pontins......

Has to be black. A teacher I work with occasionally wears a white suit, which is a bit minging. And to make it even worse, he wears a pink tie....

Black only if it's a funeral. My personal favourite at the moment is brown, but I also have a navy blue suit (nothing wrong with that shade of blue), a charcoal grey one and a charcoal grey one with a fine purple pin stripe.

I dont know if it was Electric Blue but it was quite shocking.... ;)

Yeah - it was pretty nasty

You were doing so well until you mentioned purple

Just realised that makes it sound rather garish - a bit like The Joker or Prince :hilarious:

It is in fact quite restrained, maybe I should have said lilac. The lining is very dandy-ish though. ;)

Stop confusing your Dresses with your Suits James;)

My five suits are:

1. Chocolate with orange pin stripes
2. Navy Blue with white pin stripes (wearing now, with my pink shirt with lilac and sea green stripes)
3. Cream
4. Brown Velvet (I also have a gorgeous pink velvet jacket)
5. Dark green with white pin stripes (although this is a bit of a tight fit at the mo')

A dark blue suit is perfectly acceptable, whilst as glasgowsufc suggested, a light blue would not be.

However to answer your question, grey is the most acceptable colour in the office.

Black* is more suited (for want of a better word) for funerals or dinner jackets.

*Other than a pin-stripe

Should of gone to Specsavers.

Any colour as long as it's Black.

Huh? Black is only ever acceptable if you're

a) in Reservoir Dogs
b) in the Blues Brothers
c) at a funeral
d) in a formal dinner suit; or
e) a girl

You might just qualify under (b), John - but that's it.

For the office, charcoal grey, mid grey, grey pinstripe, and navy blue are all perfectly acceptable - and all find themselves in the MtS wardrobe, together with a formal dinner suit and a formal morning suit.

:)

Disagree,

Grey is old hat now mate. I am today sporting a brown suit which gets many a positive comment from customers and staff alike. In addition to this I also own a rather fetching Royal Blue number.

Grey is ok with a stripe I think but plain grey is a bit old now..
