Post-Match Thread and Ratings SUFC vs Trannies 13/02/2010

Can't say anything positive about the team Ron picked. We only picked up the pace when Macca came on. I almost sounded like OBL then.

Absolute garbage. Two hours of my life I wont get back. An abysmal match of such low quality its almost hard to believe these guys are professional footballers.
Very few positives, main one being we didnt lose! Couldve easily lost, defence was shaky all match and cnstantly gave the ball away (francis and Mvoto in particular). Midfield were outmuscled by Tranmere although Jeff did well 1st half. Sanchez Watt, what a poor display, no effort and seemed totally disinterested until he got injured and taken off. Scannell probably our best attacking threat, Laurent did well for the penalty but then did his usual disappearing act. Vernon tucked away the penalty well and in fairness only had hopeless long balls to deal with, was well marked by Goodison.
Our only chances came from set pieces, from open play we were turgid and the only way we wouldve scored today was if Wayne Bridges missus had been in the players lounge after the game.
Tranmere came for a point and hassled and defended very well but I would be disappointed if I was a Tranmere fan as, playing like that, we were there for the taking and they couldve and shouldve been a bit more positive. Thought their small band of fans outsung the whole of our support also so credit to them.

Are we going down? If not this season then next as surely the likes of Macca and Mildy wont say. Macca has as good as put his transfer request in, he was v poor when he came on today. Next season will be a struggle whichever division we are in, no money, all the loanees back at their parent clubs, disgruntled players, dificult to see much hope at the moment.

Wont bother doing ratings as too despondent! Frankly Barrett and Scannel apart, they were rubbish.

Another poor performance against mediocre (to be generous) opponents. I can't remember us having a shot on target apart from the penalty. We are in a serious dogfight based on the last few performances and I worry that we are not good enough!

Mildenhall - 7 - No chance with the goal. Made one sharp save and was good collecting stuff in the air
Francis - 4 - Shocking
M'voto - 6.5 - Slowly getting back to pre injury form. Looked good
Baldwin - 6.5 - Solid, no frills defending
Barrett - 6.5 - Same as Baldwin. Pleased for him after the disaster that was Monday night!
Scannell - 7 - Our most dangerous player by some distance. Really starting to come into form.
Christophe -5 - Poor. Had two fantastic chances with his head but missed both.
Moussa - 6 - Better than of late though still not getting into games as much as he should.
Watt - 5.5 - Very quiet, subdued performance. Couple of good passes.
Laurent - 6.5 - Won us the penalty and made a few good runs but the final ball is either poor or non-existent
Vernon - 6.5 - Played alright, held the ball up well. Good penalty.

Macca - 6 - Added a bit of impetus but didn't do a huge amount really.
Spencer - 5.5 - Don't think he even touched the ball.

So to conclude, another woeful performance and we really need to start getting some points on the board!!

I'd pretty much go with the ratings above except a 7 for Barrett, he was driving us forward even when his colleagues looked disinterested.

Francis had a mare, on top of general all round sloppiness in everything he did in open play, his set pieces were poor. He finally started getting the hang of swinging them in around 85 minutes into the game!

Tranmere were pretty cynical, lucky to finish with 11 men.

Poor team selection again.

Vernon was working hard and Laurent was just strolling around and looked lost.

Yet another central defensive partnership.

If Macca was 'dropped' because of his Facebook rant then that's pathetic, I make the bloke spot on for having a dig, he's not on outrageous Premiership wages, he's a human being and has bills to pay just like the rest of us.

Highlight of the game was seeing Arshavin in the directors box!

Wondered why all the flash bulbs were going off in that direction - though ron had had his hair done?

Surely arshavin wasn't there to watch watt, but why else would he? Embarrassed we served that ***** up for him.

I have it on good authority that Arshavin was on a spying mission for his
friend Vladeyoff Loadsofmoneyski, who may make an offer for our club.

In his not very exciting radio interview Tilly was asked about the rumour of the players not being paid again and he said he would not comment and someone from the club could make a statement but not him. He did not deny it.

Arshavin's manager is a Southend fan. No, not Wenger. And Arshavin has been meaning to come along for a while. I doubt he'll be back.

I'm not going to go into as much detail as I normally would because I'm fecked off. At the players and at Tilson, whose post match interview and lack of respect for Tranmere only frustrated me more. Came for a point and put men behind the ball at every opportunity making it hard for us? What utter nonsense. They passed it around well and looked far better than their position suggests.

In the first half we played some extremely nice stuff, right up there with what we did at Colchester. Once again it was no surprise that this came with Moussa in the middle. Without McCormack screaming at him he looks so much more relaxed in the middle and the same can be said of Christophe. They look a very good partnership and I'm no Christophe fan generally. As soon as Watt went off, despite the fact he saw none of the ball, and Moussa was shifted out wide, we reverted to type. A hideous lack of creativity and ideas in the middle.

Why are we insisting on playing Laurent up front when we finally have a collection of strikers? Why have we banished Paterson already? Why did we bring on McCormack for Watt when surely as we needed to win we should've brought on Paterson and put Laurent wide? Why the hell is M'Voto playing when he looks so uncomfortable?

Ratings:

Mildenhall 7.5: Dealt with everything well. Commanded his box expertly.

Francis 4: Abysmal. Absolutely abysmal.

M'Voto 5.5: Still doesn't look right. At all. Not the player we had at the start of the season and quite why we're playing him at the moment is beyond me.

Baldwin 7: Steady enough.

Barrett 6: Not a left back and broke down almost every attack. Our attack that is.

Scannell 6.5: In the first half he was great, but they realised he was our threat and doubled up on him, snuffing him out of the game.

Moussa 6.5: In the middle he was very decent, but as soon as McCormack came on and he was punted out to the left he disappeared into insignificance.

Christophe 6.5: Similar to Moussa. When paired with said Belgian, he did some very good things and played better than he had done for sometime, but as usual he struggled alongside McCormack.

Watt 5: So, we bring in a talented player who should rip this league to bits and what do we do? We don't pass the ball to him. Genius.

Vernon 5.5: Ran around a lot but little else and won very little in the air. In fairness the second half service was nothing short of dreadful.

Laurent 5.5: A couple of nice skills apart and winning the penalty, he struggled. Why up front?

Subs:

McCormack 5: Ran around, moaned, passed backwards, skewed a shot. Same old then. He's now going on about how he was supposed to go Millwall on Facebook, after the wages moaning. How about you just go there? I'll drive you.

Spencer 5: Made one lovely little flick into Vernon's path, but struggled to get into the game.

Spot on & that is only the half of it! Watch this space!

McCormack - He's now going on about how he was supposed to go Millwall on Facebook, after the wages moaning. How about you just go there? I'll drive you.

what a tool, how many of his friends on FB are SUFC supporter! Was this status update posted before/after todays game?

Danny dyer was on soccer am today and his surname summed up our performance. Two things I was thinking about whilst driving home and that is.
(1) Is laurent a reincarnation of stephen clark? I:e fantastic at beating the opposition but his final touch is .........................well........pony?
(2) Tilly after match interview when he said that "Mildie" didnt have a save to make and we had 4/5 chances to win...........Sorry was I at the wrong game today? Please did anyone notice me dribbling in a dazed state having remembered that that there Was'nt a game at roots hall today. Please Tilly. I luv u to bits mate but dont insult the fans intelligence....we were Cache, with a capital C.
