Official Match Thread SUFC vs Plymouth

First ratings of the season and we start with a win!

Bentley 6 - relatively untroubled, a few suspect kicks and may have handled outside the box but fairly solid otherwise.
White - 7 - pretty solid throughout, great pass to Freddy for the goal, rarely overlapped with Atkinson, certainly more defensive than Clohessy.
Phillips 6 - very assured at the back and dealt with Morgan well.
Prosser 6 - again, very assured at the back and did little wrong.
Coker - 6 - good steady performance on his debut, linked up well with Straker.
Atkinson 7 - some lovely football, looks a talented boy, kept it simple and looks to have a good football brain.
Laird 8 - great stuff from Lairdy, a real box to box performance and bossed the midfield, great work in the build up for Barry's goal.
Leonard 7 - petered out a bit in the second half but worked very well with Laird, closed the oppo down very well all first half.
Straker 7 - really good stuff from Straker, looked very lively and very pacey, made a nuisance of himself for most of the game.
Corr 7 - looked a determined lad and think we can expect some serious goals from him this season if he keeps fit. Took his goal well but went a bit quiet after that.
Eastwood 6 - steady performance from Fred, worked hard and showed some good quick feet at times. Fitness seems to have improved, being subbed must have been tactical as he seemed to still have some puff left. Encouraging.

Reid 5 - wasn't really on long enough but didn't do an awful lot, looked neat on the ball.
Clifford 5 - again, not really on long enough to justify a better rating and didn't really see too much of the ball.

All in all it was an impressive display from th Blues on the opening day. Some fine tuning needed but was nice to see us keep the ball on the floor and look to play ourselves out of trouble rather than hoofing it. Always looked to keep possession and everyone looked up for it. Really encouraging signs early on. COYB!

Great work rate and fitness and tried to play football the right way. Left flank looked much stronger than the right, Coker and Straker supporting eachother superbly and both look very confident on the ball.

Nice to see a bumper crowd as well, will help keep the HMRC wolves from Rons door for a couple of weeks.
