Official Match Thread SUFC vs Plymouth

Staying up with Brown and Penney, we're staying up with Brown and Penney! :winking:

That's a clean sheet for the player who could be sponsored by ShrimperZone. If you haven't already check out the thread and put you money in the pot and help the zone sponsor Ben Coker.

Great result and a great start to the season.

Ok here is my walking home summary. First half was a real statement of intent. Our work rate an closing of the opposition was simply brilliant as was our desire to play simple football at a good tempo. Second half petered out due to the heat. I will close with this......anthony straker!!!!!! WTF brilliant

that is a good away following from Plymouth, great efforts guys :) a win for us hopefully can bring some fans back to Root Hall for next home game. I should have gone there, but will make it on Tuesday Vs Yeovil

I enjoyed that. Great work rate and organisation. Good platform to build on and over 7000- when did that happen 1st game last?

Up in Khon Kaen, Thailand off the beaten track. Great to hear of a win and BBBC elevating his hero status a bit more. :D

Agree with summary, good first half, died away second. Plymouth didnt really trouble us but we didnt create a huge amount second half.

Not sure about the Straker comment. He does look better than last year but hardly brilliant.

I hope you asked Khon first. Touchy fellow.

He linked up well with Coker but his decision making is toilet

Crowd, atmosphere and work rate all good. Laird and Straker very busy. Solid at the back. We lack flair though and apart from Hurst I'm not sure where that will come from.
And no chorus of 'Here comes the hot steppa....'

A great afternoon all round and agree with earlier comments about work rate in closing Plymouth down but still playing decent football ourselves. All this and Timlin and Hurst still to come and Clifford as well. AND my season ticket worked first game of season. Happy days:smile:
