4 million debt 25 years ago would be how much roughly in todays money?
If this was worst chairman top trumps then it would likely be a close call.
Arguably Vic gave us the brightest time in our history. 6 consecutive championship / div 2 seasons. We also sold a good few players for very good money and roots hall was revamped.
He left us in league 2 with 4 million debt.
Fast forward 25 years and we are in debt to the tune of 20 odd million, roots hall is in ruins and we play in the 5th tier.
We do however, have a brighter looking future if Fossetts gets off the ground.
Thank you that’s enough of the bickering people have had there shouting marching & banner waving we want martin out so the first signs of this happening have started ( early than expected)Enough of the bickering now PLEASE!
Let's just discuss the thread title.
You can’t rebuild until solid foundations are laid… rebuild before that and everything collapses again…Yes, this scenario is very worrying. This coming summer is sure to be another rebuild from scratch. NL survival will be the aim next year, if we're still going at all
Does that include interest on the debt too?£7,107,207.85,

Isn't it just?Interesting that Sir Stanley is in New York….
Hopefully he doesn't start to behave like Gary Busey...I think he’s started to look more like Gary Busey tbh
Does he want to be a part of it?Interesting that Sir Stanley is in New York….
Stan, along with Tom Lawrence, are two people that give me a shred of hope for the future of the club. It's clear to me that they have the genuine interests of the club at heart and will try and influence a positive outcome as much as they can.Interesting that Sir Stanley is in New York….
If he can make it there, he'll make it anywhere.Interesting that Sir Stanley is in New York….
I agree. They seem to have the club at heart and I think we should back them in any way we can.Stan, along with Tom Lawrence, are two people that give me a shred of hope for the future of the club. The real question is, are Southend gonna make a brand new start of it?If he can make it there, he'll make it anywhere.
It's a hell of a townIf he can make it there, he'll make it anywhere.
He just wants to wake up in a city that never sleeps !The real question is, are Southend gonna make a brand new start of it?
You make a good point. The general view appears to be that Ron is an untrustworthy habitual liar. In the absence of any believable accounts, he is free to spew out any BS that suits him. I'n not sure we will ever know the truth ?i hope i am not the only person in the whole wide world who simply does not believe in any of this 20-24 million pound debt that RM has conjured up out of his dreams ..
Does he like Oi! ?I think he’s started to look more like Gary Busey tbh
I do remember Ron saying the only debt the club has is to himself. He didn't mention hmrc though but that's Ron for you. Not forgetting the myriad of other suppliers. You make a good point.
