I can very much believe Ronnie telling players, either himself or through TL, that the club is "sold" in a desperate attempt to convince them to hold off on exercising their right to walk away from their contracts. In his own mind, that probably rings true because he believes it has been "sold" for weeks now.

Heard today that the players, coaching staff have not been paid.. again! (Shock). There wasn't enough in the clubs account to pay everyone. There is talk of everyone going on strike from Monday!!!Could this be the end of the club… this takeover needs to happen quickly..

If we use the house purchase analogy the club is 'sold subject to contract' with Kimura and the club apparently agreeing a price some weeks ago.

So in that sense the statement maybe semi accurate - it's sold but not completed.
