Breaking News Sturrock on R&D - Player

I seem to remember winning at Orient last season with a 4-5-1 system. But I agree, although I remember "going for it" against Hartlepool at home when they were down to 10 men and we were losing 2-1 at H-T, we went 3 upfront if I remember rightly and eventually won the game also Norwich at home in the CCC. Not everything is black and white!

There was the odd occasion where it worked but 2 or 3 times in a season that ended in relegation isn't enough.

Right you are, Harrold changed the game coming off the bench, prodding home from close range to make it 3-2 IIRC.

I hate to disagree again, buddy, but Harrold didn't score that night. Eastwood got the first, Hammell the second with a great free-kick and then Gower's stoppage time equaliser.

Hooper changed the game when he came off the bench and made a three up top with Harrold and Eastwood.

I'm clearly losing my mind... I remember Harrold coming on and holding the ball up top tremendously well.

What a left wing Stevie Hammell and the G-Man was........I know Hammell had his critics but I liked him a lot.

Indeed, better in the air than he should have been, never really caught out of position, and a wand of a left-peg. superb player.

Nonsense, He couldn't throw the ball 40 yards and he rarely jumped around like a loon clapping the West Stand after games. Terrible full-back and a Tosser to boot.

Yeah you're right, also he didn't accept OBL's facebook friend invite...

what a c-unit.

People please remember a formation can only work if the players play to the formation's strengths, Tilson did have a different formation from 4-4-2 it was 4-3-3 however the two wider frontman often dropped too deep and it looked like a 4-5-1, which many moaned about on here for being too defensive for home. It does not matter how much you go over tactics or formation once the players take to the pitch you are at their mercy and their natural instinct. Many managers moan that players when defending leads tend to drop naturally deep which just encourages the opposition to attack. so you often see coaching staff shouting at the players to push up.

Of course fans in the stands are the experts and know exactly what is occurring. How do I know, well I asked the management when i saw them why is 4-5-1 being played and was told that it was meant to be 4-3-3 and during training it seemed to stick but for whatever reason come match day it was hard to get this stuck to.
