Steve Arnold departs for Sutton

....and we had two crap replacements, would have been even better with a proper keeper!
I think you need to give your head a wobble mate - Steve was good, but he wasn't exceptional, and although he will be missed, he can easily be replaced.

As for Collin, I've made my views on him clear, I think he has so much potential to grow next season, and he should be #1.

Right...given it a wobble and you are still talking nonsense .Too short, too weak, too wayward with his kicking and should not be No.1 if we have got any ambition of doing something this year!

You said the same about other young keepers including the 2 playing for PL teams.

Whilst I agree that Colin isn't the finished article, he deserves some respect.

He came in and did his very best and improved greatly. He is only 19 or 20 ffs.

I also love SSA but his injury record and age mean we can try for a better and longer term solution.

He will be missed but more for his personality than anything else.

For me Colin should be understudy to another keeper but he will be a very good player for us in the coming years.

Disappointing that he chose Sutton United over being unpaid in Southend.
Exactly. Why he would choose to leave the glamour & prestige of being a Southend player & the excitement of not knowing what day you might get another wage in favour of another non league club & regular salary is anybodys guess..
😝

Sadly, we are the non league club, they are League 2.

Like the recently departed Rhys Murphy a very good player at this level IF he can stay fit. Whether such players are good signings or not depends very much on how much they are or were paid. If SA and RM were among the highest earners at the club (likely) then last season both have to be regarded as poor signings as too often they were unfit to be considered for selection.

Steve Arnold a very good goalkeeper at this level when fit.

If another club wants to take the chance that he can play a full season and pay him more than we are prepared to then I have to say let him walk. Based on his injury record a full season looks unlikely.

That is what logic suggests and I take no pleasure in writing those words

Flahavan wasnt exactly a giant...

He's got lots to learn, but he will go on to play much higher than NL that's for sure.

Ah my bad, the heady heights of League football.
A dim & distant memory that perhaps may be realised once more when my unborn grandchildren are grown up & the long gone Ron Martin is reduced to merely being the antagonist in a bedtime bogey man tale that I used to scare them when they were little

Good luck to him but P1 is putting 11 people on the pitch 5th August no matter who they are right now. We can pick up the slack later.
