Staying at RH and ditching Fossets

So many people saying what we all know.

Ron Martin is killing the club. It's literally heart breaking to see it disintegrating infront of our eyes.

So what do we do?

He won't sell (apparently) and he is running the club into oblivion.

He is banking on the green light for fossetts farm. Its his only hope and he will tell us that its the clubs only hope.

Thats a false statement. We can stay at roots hall and I never wanted the club to leave. We could easily redevelop parts of the stadium.

Is it possible to rally the council to red light fossetts in order for us to get Ron out of the club. He loses fossetts and he has no further reason to stay.

Even if we get a new stadium. Its his and not the clubs. We will be tenants and him landlord. It's not a future that's bright anyway.

I asked this a few weeks ago. there seems no consensus about the best plan of action. Some suggest we want the council to green light fossets and then Ron makes his millions, builds us a nice stadium, allows us to generate non match day profit (though unspecified) and May even just let the rent accrue as debt….. if this is our best case scenario then We need to do what we can with e council to get it passed.

alternatively, is it better, as you say, that Fossets doesn’t get the go ahead - rons pot of gold goes and his asking price for selling up suddenly plummets. Obviously we would be in for crazy aamounts owed to Ron that a buyer would need to clear, or we get wiped out and have to start again…..?

No chance sadly now the council are getting their land for houses.

Theres a certain irony about the council stalling it all those times and now when we dont actually need a move they will greenlight it...

I agree. There are areas surrounding the ground that could be developed for flats, and the income generated to improve the stadium (ie similar to the South Stand).

Though if the fans were 100% against it that would make their decision harder - currently approval could be packaged as them doing something for benefit of the club - if fans were against it they dont have that.

also, I guess houses could be approved but not the stadium?

Maybe, they have that housing quota to fill though....

I love the hall and would gladly stay, but it certainly needs more then just a lick of paint.

I was at Hornchurch last night, got chatting to an ex-shrimper who said he went 20 years ago and last week - he said the toilets still haven't been cleaned! Yuk...?

He had the chance on the old college site where the new flats were ,missed out on them ,
good property developer he’s meant to be. Same with the block of flats opposite clubs shop could have bought them knocked them down and could of bulit a hotel there

Tommy, Ron owns RH so if it was possible to block FF then what would we gain?

There are people interested in the club but they are waiting on FF. There is every chance they would want to buy the stadium and training ground etc. Rather than rent from Ron.

With the houses going up i don't see Ron bothering with Football beyond the first year.

Hoping that a sugar daddy pays of the RH debt and then develops it is never and I mean never going to happen. If people could be honest rather than self appointed, screaming keyboard witch hunters. (don't mean you)

Then we could all have a new owner who owns the stadium and a chance of decent league football. And crucially maintain our name....Southend United.

Its alright marching into Afghanistan but what do you hope to achieve?

Ron out even if it folds the club is not a smart move when the easies and best option is Ron out once FF is approved.

How much further does the club have to slide before he leaves? Would be handy if he could do so after he's receives the green light rather than waiting until the stadium is built. I don't think many of us could bear another 3 years or so under his stewardship.

I would love to stay at RH as I have so many memories from there from first standing in the Paddock with my dad aged 8 but, I am a realist and the place is a complete s**thole now through years of neglect. The neglect of the place is so bad it is now beyond repair that I don't think we have any alternative but to move.
If there is any chance we could remain at RH I for one would be one happy person as the location is great, it is near a main rail line and bus route and easy to get to and park if travelling by car. There are also several pubs in the area near some shops too.

Although it is true that roots hall has been left to ruin, it's not beyond saving.

It's one of the big reasons that I detest RM. He has allowed the clubs home to decay as much as he has the team and our league status.

Watching the highlights,

Night game with Roots hall under floodlights ❤.

Ill be very sad to see it go.
Was bearable when we were moving to a fancy stadium with masses of retail cash supporting our championship push.

A 3 sided non league stadium in the middle of a council estate with no income stream and a portaloo doesnt have the same appeal somehow.

Roots hall isn’t a option, it’s getting unsafe by the month, throwing money at this ground is like throwing it into a black hole, you lose it, we need the new stadium or it’s a ground share option and very soon.
Anything can be restored if the desire is there.

Only because one person has decided to do the very very bare minimum, whilst he chased the big payout for himself.
Yeah you could say that, but the ground has been left to rot for years, hardly anything has been upgraded over the years, most other teams with grounds like us have either got new grounds or updated stands along the way, we haven’t eh:Cry:
