I bet Stambridge didn't know in advance who was playing. If you had bothered to go you could have asked you manager directly why he sent a team of trialists, I understand he was in the bar prior to the game and at half time, if anyone is to blame it would be him, but respect due for him at least attending and watching the game with regular punters.

I think he sent a team of youths and triallists because he felt that was appropriate opposition for a team just one short step above the Borough Combination.

It still seems slightly perverse that when a team who doesn't charge for their competitive games plays another team that doesn't charge for their matches either in a friendly game there is suddenly a charge. Match officials and floodlights, when used, have to be paid for throughout the season so I'm not sure about that argument.

Unless of course they were under the impression that the senior squad would be visiting in which case an admission fee would be appropriate as with Great Wakering tomorrow.
