Are you happy with Stambridge pricing?

I think, for them, as this is a celebratory fixture commemorating their 125th "birthday" I believe, it should be fine for them to charge admission if they don't normally - anything to make a bit of cash. However, one of the players themselves said yesterday they're not playing tonight which backs up the youth/ressys/trialists theory, and on that basis, I think £6 is a bit pricey.

If people want to pay £6 to watch it, good luck to them. I guess we'll find out if £6 is too much when we see the crowd.

Personally I don't begrudge them charging £6, it's a money-spinning fixture and a landmark occasion for them and like all small clubs they are in need of the cash.

Didn't we charge kids £3 for ten minutes on a bouncy castle on Sunday afternoon? I reckon on that basis 90 minutes football for £6 isn't a bad deal.

I don't know about £3 for 10 mins, it was £6 for a wrist band for as long as you wanted, which is pretty standard when you get these kind of inflatables in. We had the same at the school fete a couple of weeks back, and the price is set by the company, not the people running the event.

The match is to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Stambidge FC. I understand they are trying to raise funds to move to a new ground so they can develop and play at a higher level. It might seem steep but if it helps promote another senior club in this area then thats ok by me.

No!!!! they play in the Essex Olympian league http://fulltime.thefa.com/Index.do?division=8688736

Plus on your post above its £6.00 to watch Southend United ok granted thats fair do's but tonights game will be youth, trial players,Bentely and woodyard! A normal ressy game is free and thats in a football league ground and has many returning first players

They are actually 4 levels below Southend Manor and, this season, Great Wakering Rovers.

I believe Stambridge were under the impression / told that it would be a first XI playing and that doesnt look like its going to be the case. Its dissapointing for them and seeing as i work with the Stambridge manager, i should probably go, but not sure i can really be bothered ... esp if its raining (girl i know!)

Kev

I think if we send a full first team then £6 is probably about fair, though from the simple aspect of change etc then a fiver is far more sensible, for the XI we're sending then 2 or 3 quid would be my mark

And it should only be one or two quid for kids, £4 is way too much to stand in a field

It was, I paid it twice for both my kids to go on it. I know, you do the maths:unsure:

Yeah I had no problem with £6 for a first team squad, but its too much for the team we sent. Still its money in the pocket of a little club.

£6 was ok by me. If it helps the local clubs out a bit then once in a while that's ok. Don't like it, don't go. When was the last time we sent a team of any sort to Stambridge?? Perhaps they deserve a game, especially in their 125th year.

Also, they didnt charge for parking and a proper mug of tea was only £1 unlike that crap we get at RH for £1.50ish! They seemed quite a friendly club tbh.

Correct and am sure people didnt

Ill let you know when I play them this coming season :winking:

I do love to hear so called football fans moaning about something they know nothing about. Having organised a few of these types of games in a previous life I bet the majority of people moaning are unable to comprehend how expensive these games are. Hosting teams have to pay for match officials, floodlights, an event licence and hospitality for the opposing team. They have an army of volunteers all working for nothing and for the love of the game.

I bet Stambridge didn't know in advance who was playing. If you had bothered to go you could have asked you manager directly why he sent a team of trialists, I understand he was in the bar prior to the game and at half time, if anyone is to blame it would be him, but respect due for him at least attending and watching the game with regular punters.

I think you should have a bit more respect for a team that has more local football history than yourselves, your starting to sound like arrogant West Ham fans lol

The fact remains they have more history than you do be that league or non league so get over it. Now why not be a good little boy and fork out a fiver and get you arse down to Gt Wakering tomorrow and help out another local team rather than bleating about how hard done by you are because a lot of local people happen to support other teams
