Spoty 2013

What odds can I get on Alastair Cook picking up the trophy?

If we win the ashes then he'll be in the top 3 for sure. If Murray wins Wimbledon however then he'll win it pretty much automatically. There's also the athletics world champs.

Nah, non Olympic year, no one will care apart from the purists. Murray may indeed shade it, and trouble is, as the cricket is in Australia, the Ashes will only be 3 matches out of 5 down.

It's in both England and Australia next year

Can Cooky be the first captain to win the Ashes twice in a year

They changed the timing so it didn't clash with the World Cup, but moved it forward instead of back. I think it now clashes with the T20 World Cup instead:duh:

Just the ten tests, five ODIs, two T20s against Australia next year.

We're preparing for this overkill by playing New Zealand in back-to-back series.

:zzzzz::zzzzz:

2015 in West Indies is the next series I'm actually looking forward to.

I wonder if Mo Farah does well in the athletics championship he might get it as a lot of people will be sympathetic he didnt get in the top 3 this year.

Ladbrokes odds for next year:

Andy Murray 3/1
Alistair Cook 6/1
Jessica Ennis 6/1
Mo Farah 6/1
Rory McIlroy 10/1
Bradley Wiggins 10/1
Chris Froome 12/1
Luke Donald 25/1
Jenson Button 33/1
Lee Westwood 33/1
Kevin Pietersen 33/1
Mark Cavendish 33/1
50/1 bar

With Murray having a good chance of picking up a slam or two, you can see why he's favourite, but I like MK's thinking re Cook.

Too many variables to pick right now, if westwood wins a major he may have a shout, if murray bags another major he will be a big shout, if button of hamilton win the F1, cook has been immense jut not sure he has that star factor that often sways it. If wiggins wins another tour its over.

I'm happy to provide better odds than Ladbrokes' 10-1 if you want to back him.

My outside tip is Steven Finn.

Sky have already come out and said Froome is the boss next year in the TDF ...

Seemingly contradicted by Wiggins now saying he fancies a pop at the Giro/Tour double (and good luck with that Bradley!). Will be interesting to see how this develops....

They haven't decided on their strategy yet, but will do so way before the Giro as they will tailor the training plans accordingly.

I think Wiggins will ride the Giro and then somehow be a co-leader in support of Froome in the Tour.
