sports you love/hate

also hate

showjumping
boating of any discription
tour de france or whatever its called
every american sport
people chasing cheese downhill, not a sport but thought i would mention it.

I like:

Volleyball, both bach and indoor
Footbal
Cricket
Ice Hockey
Motor racing
Rugby Union
Golf
Dont like:

Rugby league
American football
Baseball
Basketball
Horse racing, unless I win of course!

Hate - motorsports (not a level playing field, so utterly pointless), equestrianism (daft), snooker (except when O'Sullivan is at the table), rugby league (just don't get it), horse-racing (unless trackside), US sports (largely because I don't get / understand them either), Gaelic sports (ditto), swimming (dull), sailing (mad, dull), golf (dull, apart from the Ryder Cup), WWE (pointless, stupid, not sport, play-acting, red-neck nonsense).

Love - football (obviously), cricket (where sport, aesthetics and personal duels all meet), rugby union (used to play it, so I understand it), athletics (sport at is purest), darts (tension and testosterone), boxing (savage beauty), tennis (Sharapova!), cycling (the ultimate endurance tests?).

* * *

If I were a benign dictator, WWE would be banned, cricket would be on terrestrial TV alone, the first day of any cricket Test series would be a national holiday, and boxing would be compulsory for all 11-15 year old boys. Tire the little sods out.

I like:

Volleyball, both bach and indoor

Jeez, I wouldn't want to see this fella in a bikini

250px-JSBach.jpg

Good call though. Volleyball was on the telly at work the other day and I actually got quite in to it.

Love - Footie an Cricket, like watching Snooker, MMA, Motorsport, don't mind watching Golf, Rugby Union (used to watch it alot more), Athletics

Hate - Tennis, Rugby League, Anything with horses (apart from Horse racing when you're actually there and not on TV)

Love - cricket and Southend United/England
Enjoy boxing, rugby union, athletics and increasingly American football, baseball and cycling

Hate - golf (is crap), "sports" involving horses (except from a gambling perspective), basketball (just don't get it)

Cricket was my first sporting love, having been taken to see Essex against the convicts at Southchurch Park in 1961, even before my first visit to Roots Hall. I've followed through all the twists and turns since and have been lucky enough to see many players who are now termed as greats.

I like many other sports rugby (league & union). athletics, boxing, golf and go absolutely daft when the Olympics come round.

Not a big fan of any thing involving horses as generally they are disappearing into the distance with my hard earned and I get bugger all return.

I agree with MtS about WWE, but in fairness to WWE now, it does not represent itself as a sport, but sports entertainment.

Like football, ice hockey, US football, baseball, cricket, basketball, darts, boxing

Don't care for athletics, speedway, F1, NASCAR, lacrosse, field hockey

Love:
Football - obviously
Baseball (far more complex than most give it credit for)
Athletics / Olympic sports

Like:
Cricket
Rugby
Darts - great to watch on tv!

Hate:
Golf - nice walk in the country spoilt by balls & sticks
Snooker - ok to play, boring as hell to watch
Motorsports (F1 is ok)
Wrestling

Love -

Football, Cricket (agree with MtS except all Test Match days should be National Holidays), Golf.

Don't mind -

Most other sports.

Can't stand -

Athletics (who's taken the most drugs wins), Cycling (See athletics, but with bikes), Motor Racing (Cars go round and round, totally pointless)

Darts - sport? Blimey - never realised fitness helped. Oh yeay - walking 6 feet every minute keeps the beer gut trim I suppose. Scoring 180 is the only 3 bonks they ever get.

Football and Boxing are my 2 loves , used to be an ametaur boxer but couldn't keep that and football up at the same time and opted for football.

Having seen Hatton , Calazghe , Haye , Kevin Mitchell fight live must admit it is a top night out and they are probably our best 4 fighters around at the moment with Carl Froch ,but i don't like the guy so will never watch him fight .

Not a fan of Golf , Cricket and American football .

Although going against my heart , i'm gonna have a wager on Jones jr beating Calazghe on points next week , i hope i lose my money but got a sneakt feeling he's gonna take Joe .:'(

The only game I live and breath is football.

Other then that, I dislike:

Fishing - Nothing against fishing, just it's not a sport.

I like:

Cricket - When the ashes are on it's class.
Snooker - Always enjoyed playing/watching snooker, although only in patches.
Tennis - Don't mind playing tennis occasionally, watching it often bores me though.

Boooooooooo!!!

I'll stick up for showjumping as it is getting quite a bashing from everyone. Don't love it, but if the Samsung league is on tv, I'll watch it.

Like:

Footie, Baseball, American Football, Gaelic Football, Tennis, Boxing, F1, to name but a few.

Dislike:

Basketball, NASCAR

The Sports I Love

Football - the beautiful game. Whether watching, playing or being a football manager on the pc its fantastic. It really is the universal language. And being in a country where it not a big sport makes you love it even more as you miss so much!

Cricket - one dayers & 20/20 - fast paced, action filled dayand even better if you are there live with beer in hand. Nothing like a day at the cricket

Golf - Not a fantical viewer apart from the majors and ryder cups but enjoy a good go at it myself even though I am cack. But walking round a course on beautiful British day before part-taking in the customary 19th hole is always a joy.

Tennis - Some of the stuff the top guys do is magical and its getting beter as a sport as more and more players become top class and advance the game forward.

Pool - Is it a sport? Yeah and it goes well with a few pints before/during/after soccer saturday (obv. if no Southend game or a away game I cant make)

Women's beach volleyball - no reason needed
The Sports I Hate

Polo - Not a sport. In fact anything with horses (minus actually horse racing). Silly toffs prancing around on their la-de-da's!!

Baseball - A game only the yanks could play. But yet insist on their championship playoffs being called the world series. You are the only country that plays the ****ing sport you unintelligent buffons!!

Wrestling - Not sure if you would class it as a sport but its not entertainment. Its far OTT and cheesy for my liking. And sorry to tell people this but incase you dont know its fake.

Netball - Why? (my missus will kill me for this reason too being ex-england) but why. I go along to support the missus when she plays but I dont get it. No physical contact? I say get the jelly and cream and lets get it on. And the aussies love it too so its always on TV!!

Chess - ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz. I know its a game for intelliects. The high browed. But really. a game that involves taking several minutes to make a move isnt really a sport to me.
