£5,000 if I remember correctly

I still don't get that stupid rule though, about teams that finish on a draw after 90 minutes and then win on penalties get 4 points for a win, yet teams that win straight out within the normal 90 minutes get just the 3 points!

Those figures don't match with the reports and pictures of people there. Dare say some people bought tickets and didn't go so the club still gets the money.

I was at the match and 1200 sounds about right, probably looked like less because we opened 2 stands when 1 would have been enough.

You get 2 points if you win on penalties, not 4!

Sounds like kyprianou was the bright point tonight as was anton getting some minutes.

Seriously hope we can get some more bodies in tomorrow and get Ranger timlin and wordsworth fit.

It wasn't a real match - close the thread and disregard the game.

Only positives I guess was minutes for players including the young boys - but playing against a Championship youth side doesn't warrant anything worthy of a smile.

Brown out!!

Your right, I stand corrected, In my defence, I clearly can't multi task & the Merlot is kicking in... I also just asked Mrs mattitouk how her major meeting at work went, only to realise she was off today and spent the day with her mum and friends in Kent. :stunned:

Yes hopefully the competition will help the like of Kyprianou and the other Williams show what the can do. Interesting when he came from Watford Kyprianou was described as a left winger who can play LB or on the left of a back three. So pretty versatile - perhaps he will be another who will come through and make his mark.

so, if a game is drawn after the 90 both clubs get a point, and the pens winner gets an extra point, making 2? Interesting concept that. Glad we got the 3 points, though - a win is a win.

So that makes 2 wins this season !

Hopefully we can do it for real on Saturday to make it 3 wins...

Hoping Barrett stays out of the team now and keep White as captain. Thought the formation looked good tonight and Kyprianou looks a bright spark too.

I did go along tonight and have to say it was better than what I witnessed on Saturday although to be fair any of the local teams over the local parks playing on Sunday morning would have been better.
I have to say I was quite impressed with Kyprianou tonight - lots of potential there.

Brown out!!

Plenty of positives even if the side wasn't the best, I imagine Kyprianou wasn't even on Brown's radar before today but he should be now, Atkinson was taking men on (including Brighton's overage centre backs) so hopefully he carries that on in the league. Mooney took his goal well and looked bright in general so hopefully that will motivate him next game. Main negative is King was still rubbish, hopefully Atkinson replaces him next match. Cox was disappointing as well, he's been excused because of the long ball football, but plenty was played to feet tonight and Mooney still looked better than him, hopefully was just an off day because Cox sounds great from training reports.

Unbelievably on twitter now in desperation to show tonights gate was poor one of the boycott groups is putting up a comparison with other gates- the two they have picked H vs Millwall and Bristol Rovers Nov 2105- what they fail to mention is that one was a QF and the other a SF and a local derby..

I guess if one thing the politicians have taught people is how to completely misrepresent reality and present it as fact.

How did Ferdinand play?

Another positive was Smith. Great handing, a good save in the first half and a good punch second half. Ferdinand was quality, still not match fit but oozes class, positionally great, gave himself an extra yard and a couple of great passes on the floor to Cox, has an eye for a pass.

Yes- still only 31. He will get fit and IMO could prove to be great signing. One of the things will get noticed most is how good he is on the the ball and how he uses it- thats one of the key differences at PL level- will be good for others as well.

How did Ferdinand play?

Clearly not fit but good enough against kids, if a pacy player took him on he would have been marooned since he couldn't sprint, made a couple of errors first half by leaving men completely unmarked to try and chase the ball but he cut that out second half, so that was probably down to a lack of sharpness after being so long out. Distribution was great though, positioning was spot on in general and made some good tackles, once he's fit (probably a couple of weeks off yet) he should be a good player for us. Smith was decent although only tested once so it's hard to tell if he's better than Oxley (I'd definitely give him a try though).

I enjoyed that game - (but it was a half friendly exhibition style match TBF).
The back 3 is an interesting option,Anton gave those about him confidence and Thomson had, for me, his best SUFC game.
PB must take some credit for the set up and also his side line coaching improvement in getting King and Lenny to make runs, space, come for ball etc AND what a different Atko - runs (forward) with the ball, bursts into the p box (theirs) range of passes (forward) and the usual miles and mile of running MOM.
Good from Mooney and Cox
Nice stuff from Harry K and a goal, deflected but he made some space and took the shot on.
I am pleased I went and it was a NICE crowd too, plus lots of room in the bar and to spread out over 2 seats!

All in all, with no injuries, the one card for Mooney, "blooding" some youths, an hour for Anton, 2 goals, a RH win, everything is a positive.

If we could get the Victors and Victorias transferred to the away end we would keep the nice atmosphere and the gate receipts...

£10,000 for a win, and £5,000 for a draw (and a £5,000 fine if you don't take it seriously)

You can't hide the fact though that the attendances are lower across the board than what is usually at this level, even record lows at places like Wimbledon, Bolton and Fleetwood.
