Our problem is ourselves as i believe as i have all season that the squad is good enough to deal with any club in this
League its just for some reason or another we have under performed when it has mattered (internal or injury probs at the wrong time maybe) however things do seem to have settled down a bit 2 wins 2 draws .
Now players have to find that edge to there game and up it for whatever tactics or style they are asked to play .
Still think Sawyer is having a raw deal him and Martin didn't deserve to be dropped BUT Martin will be back Sawyer wont, he wont make another start now unless more injuries .
why oh why have the rest of the mid-fielders who have had many poor games in a row continue to keep there place , but not Sawyer i really dont know ,as i think it would suit him with Harris and Benyon up front . How the hell is he supposed to gain confidence being treated like that.
Still i do think we will get a big result against the Shots and then press on for automatic promotion

Could it just be that being 'dropped' is merely PS rotating the squad? I say this because we have three games in eight days and if you listen carefully to Dailly, in his Hereford post-match interview, he responded to the question about whether he hoped to keep his place in the side. He said that it was down to the manager and that Sturrock had made it quite clear that we've got to use everybody this week.

You could be right where Martin is concerned in fact i would expect him to start more matches then not until the end of season but not where Sawyer is concerned i dont think

Aldershot 1-0 Bradford
Crawley 2-2 Aldershot
Northampton 3-1 Aldershot
Torquay 1-0 Aldershot
Aldershot 1-0 Morecambe
Aldershot 4-1 Barnet
Aldershot 2-0 Southend
Macclesfield 0-1 Aldershot
Aldershot 1-0 Hereford
Wimbledon 1-2 Aldershot
Aldershot 0-0 Accrington

Aldershots results over the past couple of months, not the hardest run of fixtures really, but 7 wins 2 draws and 2 defeats is 23 points from 11 games, which is championship form, so they can't be underestimated. Saying that is only 1 win in 4 though.

No matter who they played, winning is winning and breeds confidence so I agree, they cant be underestimated.

An away draw against Crawley was a good result , despite Crawleys recent form they are still a good team and have been draw merchants recently.

As its a home game against a difficult team to beat I think this is going to be a frustrating night and wouldnt be shocked to come away with a 1-0 defeat. Amazing to have such little belief when we have been in the top 3 most of the season, but our home form doesnt fill me with confidence these days.

Know exactly how you feel mate. I'd normally say that I hope we get an early goal tomorrow night to settle any nerves and get the crowd going. But if we score we'll probably try and sit on the lead again. We really need to thrash someone at home to get the confidence going. Not sure it will be tomorrow night though

They still have a chance of payoffs so they will be up for this

First home game I'll miss this season, but I really hope yogi is right and the squad rotation will see Martin make a return to the side, with Dailly on the bench perhaps to shore us up if needed. Be nice to have a real go at home with an attacking formation and dish out some payback. I also think that lights should go out - but only if we are winning on 64 mins! :winking:

Er yeah, that'll learn em.

as OBL stated above this is possibly the most important game of the season, pivotal in fact, a win could mean the world to our promotion bid a loss have the oppisite effect

Several times this season when we have failed to win after a close run of games, Sturrock conceeded that he should have freshened things up. Lets hope its fresh tomorrow night and if we dont win the never change a winning team brigade dont find a bandwagon

I say start with Harris and Benyon and bring Neil off after an hour if he's looking tired or not doing the business. Sampsons best performance for us was off the bench at Northampton anyway so maybe he's more useful against tired legs.

So if Blair starts and Harris is put to the bench, would you agree with this?

If Sturrock doesn't think Harris is 100% ready for the game then yes, but I am in the camp who think Blair is not too bad. Also, if Harris plays tomorrow if not 100%, then he probably won't be 100% on Saturday either. Rest him if he needs it.

Agree with the overall approach but I'd rather see more of Flood than Sampson ............. or if Martin is still on the bench, bring him on and put Hall upfront ...... options, options, options .......

Agreed, I've said it before I think the injury to Dickinson has helped us find our best pairing in Harris & Benyon.

As an aside I wonder if Sampson will be up to taking part given what has happened to Fabrice Muamba.

tonight!

Swindon v Torquay (1st v 2nd)
Shrews v Cheltenham (4th v 5th)
Gillingham v Crawley (8th v 6th)

so points will be dropped around us again - MUST MUST MUST win!

Think we'll win 2-0 (Benyon, Hall).

As poor as he's been Barker isn't going to be dropped unfortunetly.

I can see just the one change with Sampson in for Harris. Bring Harris on last 20-25

We owe these mugs a smashing.

Team I'd like to see,
Belford

Clohessy Phillips Prosser Hills

Hall Dailly Timlin Martin

Sampson Benyon

I would doubt whether Jack would know Muamba that well. He's not exactly been involved with the first team squad at Bolton or we'd have had no chance of signing him in the first place. I'd say it would be the equivalent of finding out someone in your office that you've never spoken to had had a heart attack. The incident has shocked everyone but wouldn't think it would have affected JS any more than anyone else. I might be wrong though.
