Southend United's Phil Brown would love to snap up Hogan Ephraim on loan from Queens

Not going to happen I'm afraid. Just bumped into Phil Brown (what a nice fella by the way) We had just both gone to the England game, and got off the train at Thorpe Bay, and I walked with him on his way down to the Roslyn.
He said Ephraim had just turned him down tonight.
He said Britt Assombalonga was instrumental in discussions with him, and that Harry Redknap gave Phil the ok to talk to him.

He said he would like to be the manager that takes us to the new stadium, as he has done it with Bolton at the Reebok, and Derby at pride park.

As I said he was a nice approachable bloke to talk with.

Yes, he is a nice guy.

Can't understand why he is still living in the Roslin though. Maybe he doesn't want to commit to a long term rental. Wonder why that is?

Phil wants to be here when FF is built..So Ron must be on the verge of offering him a 20 year contract then.:winking:

I hope Mr Brown got plan B and C coming up for new signing.

It's Thursday today, time is getting short. Even if someone comes in today or tomorrow that's not much time to settle in and get to know the other players. I don't think we will see anyone new this week, maybe next week?

Didn't honestly sound from his (PB) interview that anyone was likely to come in.........."I'm happy with the squad I'm working with." Wasn't it only a week ago he was talking of the possibility of bringing up to four loanees in? He's kinda nailing his colours to the mast..............I pray it doesn't happen but come Tuesday night, if we are still without a win, like the good 'captain', is he preparing to go down with his ship?

So, CP's article was retrospective and this bloke played against Colchester. I'm sorry, since the successfull partnership of Kiernan and Prosser, the defence has not been the same quality. WHY has it taken a month, since the opening of the loan window, to replace BOTH Prosser and Thompson because that, in my view has been one of our major problems. I'm happy to see someone possibly coming in and don't want to sound cynical but this chap, unlike Bolger and Egan, has no first team experience............and then there is this last paragraph..........

"His appearances have been restricted to the reserves and under 21 team but last season he managed a combined total of just 10 games because of injuries."

...............I'm sure Phil knows what he's doing.

Embargo...

WHAT embargo................embargo is a thing of the past.........isn't it????

This is from PB's Echo column:-

"We're all still working very hard to bring players into the football club
but there aren’t really too many developments to talk about at the moment. We’re way down the line in terms of talking to clubs about players but we’re at the stage where we’re very much waiting for them to come back to us.
I’ve been going to a number of games to look at players and also enjoyed being at Wembley for the England match last night.
But hopefully something will happen soon and I’ll be able to tell you about some new signings in next week’s column."

Honestly, the whole situation regarding loanees sounds, on the surface, extremely chaotic and contradictory. I think that I'll just give up and wait for developments.................if there are any!
