Feeling no pressure for this. It's an opportunity that we have managed to secure through determination and luck that other teams have faultered.
Strangely I feel our best chance is if we we go 1 down in the first half. We seem to do better when we have to fight back. Oldham will expect it to be the floodgates opening but with our recent fight back spirit and never give up attitude, I think it will rock Oldham a bit that we don't fold and die. It's like we need that kick up the arse to get going.
If we take the lead, we'll be like rabbits in headlights. Do we push on and try to increase the lead or protect the lead? No such choice when 1 0 down and fighting back is our best attribute.
We can do this!
Coyb!
Well, having watched Oldham against Halifax and then York, I wouldn’t want us to go a goal or two down to them. Now they have recovered from the injury crisis they had, and Yoganathan has become one of the first names on the match day team sheet, they look every bit the finished article, settled and ready for promotion. In their playoff run they have looked far better than the side we played back in March, having 9 changes in the team from the one we faced in the league. They are also way superior to Rochdale and FGR in my opinion.

I desperately want us to win tomorrow, but I am very nervous because this Oldham side have the ability to close a match out early and then shut up shop. We know from experience this season that we find it extremely difficult to score against sides that pack their defence, so we don’t want to give Oldham the opportunity to do that.

Obviously, I would like us to be 3-0 up by half time, but I doubt that will be the case unfortunately. So, in the absence of the dream scenario, I think we will need to keep the game as tight as possible, 0-0 or hopefully 1-0 to us, for as long as possible and then close it out late in the match with a goal or two. There is so much at stake for both sides I think they will each be set on keeping scoring chances for the opposition to a minimum.

Enjoy the day everyone, whatever the outcome, and let’s just hope it is us rejoicing come the final whistle. COYB!

I don’t get this Oldham are suddenly PSG thing. Yes they beat Ebbsfleet on the last day of she season, and then Halifax in the play offs, however Halifax limped into the play offs and were absolutely awful when I watched them draw at Eastleigh a few weeks ago, and we comfortably took six points of them.

Oldham also lost to FGR near the end of the season too.

Yes, the result against York was impressive, however they were absolutely gifted the first goal.

Only York and Barnet picked up more points in the last 23 games of the season than us (41 points and only 4 defeats).

Anything can happen on the day, and it’s going to be tight.

You sir are a hero. I needed to read this after the earlier post.

Nerves are really kicking in now, and I no longer buy-in to this “we didn’t expect to be here anyway” malarkey. Of course I have also seen it that way, but we can’t now. We’re here. And we’re here on merit. Now we need to go on and ****ing win!!!
