Can you imagine the poor Oldham fans making their way from drenched and windswept Lancashire to the sunny seaside only to be met with drenched and windswept Southend and a last minute match postponement

Maybe the club predicted with the pitch quality and the forecast the game has a good chance off being called off so that's why they made it all ticket to boost short term revenue

In all seriousness, the pitch should hold up, we are in the summer months so to start the pitch wont have much water in it unlike winter months. It has some rain and water so the top layer will be soft enough for the rain to drain though it without sitting on top, it was heavily sanded too which will help with the rain. The game should only be in doubt if it absolutely hammers it down which would cause an aquaplaning affect

Fingers crossed u r correct.In view of the pictures early in the week pitch wasn't great so for the game to be postponed there will be a lot of pee off supporters from both sides
