Pretty much confirms no Miley or Collin at least for tomorrow.

4:19pm

How is Collin Andeng Ndi after having to come off against Dagenham?

Maher: "We're waiting to find out the severity of it and we'll take it from there.

"We'll probably have to have a scan on that as well.

"We're disappointed for Collin."

Maher confirms it's a hamstring issue for the keeper.

4:14pm

How is Cav Miley's ankle injury?

Maher: "He's been carrying it a little bit and has a slight problem in that ankle.

"He hasn't trained and we'll have to see how that settles down.

"We're waiting on a scan and what that tells us."

Thriller - Blues’ Gus Scott-Morriss (left) celebrates scoring at Dagenham (Image: Lucy Copsey)

GUS Scott-Morriss wants to keep on celebrating for Southend United.

The in-form wing-back, who has scored 11 times already this season, superstitiously pre-plans how he will show joy after scoring.

And Scott-Morriss hopes he will be able to show off more of his moves against AFC Fylde this evening.

“It’s a little superstition of mine and I’ll carry it on so hopefully you’ll see another one on Tuesday night now,” said Scott-Morriss.

“Scoring 11 goals has blown my own expectations out the water really.

“I was hoping to try and get 10 by the end of the season but you get on a roll and start to have that belief in yourself.

“Why can’t I go and score every week?

“Hopefully I can go on another run but the most important thing was we won on Saturday.

“Whether I score or not doesn’t matter as long as we’re winning games of football.”

Scott-Morriss headed home Blues’ second goal in a 2-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge last time out.

And he celebrated by mimicking dance moves made famous by popstar Michael Jackson.

“In the changing room before the game on Saturday, Smooth Criminal came on and a few of us were trying our best Moonwalks,” explained Scott-Morriss.

“I just had a laugh and a joke and said that’s the celebration I’m going to do if I score.

“I’m in charge of the music before the game and I have a football play-list which are all good songs that people put in.

“I shuffle it so you never know what is going to come on.

“It might have to come on again on Tuesday now though.”

Scott-Morriss scored in the reverse fixture at Fylde earlier on in the season.

And he continues to pose problems in the air for opposition defences despite not being the tallest of players.

“I think it’s just having a bit of anticipation and a desire to want to score goals,” said the 27-year-old.

“Sometimes the opposition don’t think I’m a threat because I’m small so I’m using being small to my advantage for once!

“It’s about belief and thinking you can go and win the header too.”

Blues head into tonight’s game sitting 14th in the table with AFC Fylde third from bottom.

But Scott-Morriss is expecting another tough evening.

"They've always been a dangerous outfit to play against," said Scott-Morriss.

"Whether their league position says it or not, they've always been dangerous and they have one of the best players in the league in Nick Haughton.

"If you let him have a yard around the box he will put it top bins.

"That's where it dangerous and he showed it at their place.

"We thought we'd got a point and then last minute he puts it in the bottom corner from 20 odd yards out.

"He's their main threat and we'll have to keep him quiet.

"If we can do that then hopefully we can emphasise our own game plan and go and win the game."

And Scott-Morriss is determined to get back to winning ways at Roots Hall having been beaten there 3-0 by Barnet last time out.

"The fans pay their money to come and see us," said Scott-Morriss.

"That game (Barnet) we were nowhere near it and we were honest with ourselves in the changing room afterwards.

"That wasn't us on the pitch and when you have 8,000 coming to watch you want to entertain them.

"That's what we want to try and do tonight."

Out - Cav Miley, Collin Andeng Ndi and Adam Crowther are all injured (Image: FOCUS IMAGES)

By Chris Phillips. Chief sports reporter.

SOUTHEND United will be without Cav Miley and Collin Andeng Ndi against AFC Fylde at Roots Hall tonight.

Miley missed Saturday’s 2-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge with an ankle issue.

And Blues boss Kevin Maher has confirmed the midfielder will also be sidelined for this evening’s encounter.

“Cav’s been carrying it a little bit and has a slight problem in that ankle.” said Maher.

“He hasn’t trained and we’ll have to see how that settles down.

“We’re waiting on a scan and what that tells us.”

Centre-back Adam Crowther (knee) has also been ruled out along with goalkeeper Andeng Ndi.

The Shrimpers shot-stopper suffered a hamstring issue during the first half of Saturday’s game.

And, despite still not knowing the full extent of the injury, Maher does not expect to have Andeng Ndi available tonight.

“We’re waiting to find out the severity of it and we’ll take it from there,” said Maher.

“We’ll probably have to have a scan on that as well.

“We’re disappointed for Collin.”

Nathan Harness replaced Andeng Ndi between the sticks at Dagenham and looks set to start this evening's encounter as things stand.

Fellow loanee Ben Goodliffe is pushing for his first start while Blues hope to complete the signing of Tom Hopper in time for him to feature tonight.

This is only the second visit of AFC Fylde to Roots Hall. Last season they beat us 2-1 having carefully planned how to outplay us tactically. They also beat us at our place earlier this season and got a confidence boosting win on Saturday.

So we shouldn't take them too lightly. Nonetheless we're on a roll and I think we'll beat them.... 2-1 maybe....? 🤞

"Blues hope to complete the signing of Tom Hopper in time for him to feature tonight" ???? 🤔
The lad that played for us previously ?
You might want to check the Transfer Rumours threads - there's about 50 pages about this potential transfer! And yes it is the player who played for us previously before joining Lincoln in January 2020.

I just looked up his last game for us, it was a 2-1 win away at Accrington Stanley on 18th January 2020 - our goals were from Charlie Kelman (assist from Hopper) and Jason Demetriou.

We were managed by Sol Campbell and the starting XI was:

Oxley, White, Kiernan, Dieng (Captain), Milligan, Bwomono, Demetriou, Mantom, McLaughlin, Kelman, Hopper.

Subs: Bishop, Hutchinson, Harry Phillips, Sam Barratt, Rush, Goodshop, Kenali

Looks like only Jason Demetriou is still around the club from the days that Hopper last played for us.

Harness
Gus Taylor Goodliffe Golding Ralph
Morton Coker
Kendall Bonne Walker

Think Goodliffe and Golding are better than we have and been brought in to play games. Bridge still not producing so put Ralph out there. Midfield and front three as per Daggers

3-0 win Kendall, Bonne and Coker
Agree with that team. Goodliffe should start to give us more solidity at the back with the 3 up top. We will naturally have more width with 3 strikers therefore Bridge will not be missed as much.

Nathan Ralph was around that season but spent most of it in the treatment room from memory.

My only concern is Golding is very right footed…

I have wondered if Golding has actually signed and if he's only playing out the remainder of his month loan, hence bringing in Goodliffe. It all seems strange that we haven't had official confirmation from the club, only 'I think he's signed' from Currie.

In which case it could be Taylor, Goodliffe, Ralph as the 3. With Gubbins and Crowther as back ups.
