Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 3-0 Wealdstone

3rd time for me back in the north bank today and absolutely bouncing, what a day, especially after the last few years, also inspired by the performance on the pitch aswell and fair play to the player for rising to the occasion, didn't even give wealdstone a sniff. Used to stand in the north bank as a kid, and was with my dad, daughter, son and nephew, was superb. Coker looked very good today aswell as bridge looked back to his old self. Bring on the play offs 🦐🦐

Well done folks, glad to see Ben Goodliffe prove his worth to you, as Danny Cowley said he just needs to play on a regular basis, he is not one to come on and play the odd game, he needs regular appearances. He is under contract to us for next season so the question will be, do we have him back or let him leave to yourselves or elsewhere. We did pay a fee for him, but he only played 14 times for us because of two nasty injuries. The first one was at Wimbledon on the opening day when he scored with two headers before getting a serious facial injury requiring dental surgery. Good luck against Gateshead, ex Col U Luke Hannant will be a threat, as will your old pal Frank Nouble!

Totally dominated the game, did Hayes have a shot to save??? don't quite know how we didn't have three more before we scored our second! Certainly won't be easy Monday week but it does help that we're the ones with the momentum.

Can't wait to see the smile wiped from.his smug face when we get the required result to stay in the play offs

Well, what a performance. The way we started that game, the intensity, the attacking mindset…I think I’ve only seen it to those levels v Charlton this season. We came flying out the traps. We were never going to maintain it but we were in cruise control if truth be told. Wealdstone just looked like the occasion got to them.

KAF is fast becoming my favourite. All the frontmen did well. Coker, Gus and Husin had solid games. Bridge was a thorn in their side. Subs from Kev at just the right time and so pleased to see Macauley grab another. Goodliffe was superb, as were Taylor and Ralph. One of those games it all clicked.

Gateshead won’t be relishing facing us and I’m checking out prices of hotels straight after posting this.

Very good performance again today, much like against Ebbsfleet we controlled the game and barely gave the opposition a sniff. Bridge and Coker were very good again, and I prefer Husin in the deeper lying role. Kendall has now scored two very good goals in successive games, I had my doubts over his finishing ability but he’s proving me wrong.

I owe Walker an apology too, after the Solihull game I was very critical and stated that he looked disinterested. He’s also proved me wrong with some much improved performances since then, hopefully there’ll be more of the same to come.

My only slight worry in only needing a draw against Gateshead is that we’ll get sucked into sitting back. I hope this isn’t the case and we go all out for the win.

Just a thought. IF by chance Southend go on and win the play offs, would Nick Hayes be the first player to get a National league winners medal and National league play off winners medal in the same season? Think @Napster is the man for this one ....
