A mixture of emotions after having seen that..........pride, annoyance and pleasure. Great, when we were in view of the whole world, on Sky, to have put in such a positive energetic and dominating teamwork performance that was a credit to League Two football. So many that watched this evening will just find it hard to believe that we have been on such a long non-winning sequence.
I don't know what those people who have been going on about the need of a bit of pace up front have been talking about? :winking: Seriously, the anoyance comes from the knowledge and belief that if we had had Sokolik, Egan and Loza (or anything like them) from mid-February we would have surely been in the automatic places rather than having to re-establish our play-off credentials. Loza was involved in all three goals and gave Oxford so many worries that we gained freedom and time in other areas, which we haven't seen for many a game. Apart from giving them a bit of respite at the start of the second-half, we went on to dominate them completely and it was only their keeper that avoided a rout. So fitting that, in the end he should concede from Loza whose determination wasn't going to be denied.......and what an individual goal it was. Not to forget also that there were two 'Rooneyesque' efforts that merited getting on the goal sheet. Well, perhaps............just perhaps our season isn't over yet and maybe........just maybe Barnard's career isn't over yet.
The pleasure? ..........the rarity of seeing us win on television! and of course the fact that may be the last we here from that annoying **** (bottom half???) White Goodman...........I just hope he enjoyed the game tonight!

Is it just me or does Egan remind anyone else of Maher?

Egan and Sokolik superb tonight, Egan should have scored but for a blinding save from Clarke.

I don't think Leonard had his best game, came alive last 15 but too many hoofs from him tonight. Early doors, he hooked one sideways and nearly out of the stadium, very unlike him

Those two centre backs are different gravy....if we actually start scoring again claiming a play off spot should be comfortable

Absolutely brilliant TEAM performance. That was the team of a few months ago back playing good football, non stop
pressing and harassing the opposition. The defence stood firm once again, midfield four were excellent, non stop running, including Laird when he came on and the front two complemented each other. Barney in particular was close to the player we had a few years back. He really put a shift in and created the space for Loza to exploit. As for the third goal, I've not celebrated a goal that much for a long time, how he scored I will never know, his strength and pace for someone so young was outstanding. Must follow this up with a win on Saturday and then who knows!! Well done PB and the team.

Flashback to some of our earlier performances....relentless pressing of the opposition, good possesion of the ball with the added bonus of a pacy forward stretching the opposition as well as causing panic. Have to give MOM to oxford keeper two genuinely world class saves. Our MOM has to be Loza a hand in two goals and scoring the other. Dare we dream again????? Yeah lets ave it.
Atkinson seemed to have rediscovered his energy levels too.
Really couldn't put it better.

That sums it up perfectly.

Loza had a massive impact today but the team actually performed for the first time in months straight from the kick off, the energy and drive was back, and we were passing the ball around very well again.

Having those two things come together meant Oxford couldnt deal with us.

And PB has just said that Bob Shaw recommended him.

I heard that as well, brown told him what he was looking for in a player and Shaw came up with loza . Why didn't he ask Shaw a month ago?:dunce:. I am not going to give Brown any credit as I get the impression we only got him because of corr's ban. I hope I am wrong and I am missing something

I think he has been looking for sometime, but Im sure Corr's suspension played a part.

Said at the time that it might be a blessing in disguise as it will force us to change and it may well prove to be based on tonight.

I think that as well as Barnard did today Corr could be a very good partner for Loza as well.

He also recommended the two centre halves so not done too badly!

I think brown could see the system wasnt working and was looking for another striker to accommodate the two up top....it was obvious we needed pace.....shaw said here you go browny.....thank me live on sky

I said during the game Corr would be the ideal foil for Loza,I thought Barnard was ok but for me he run around a lot without threatening apart from his volley and penalty.

I don't think this thread should get taken over by Loza discussion about Loza!
Our midfield played at a really high tempo and I think Atkinson looked much fresher which was really important. Having players like Laird, Straker and Clifford who are able to come in and play in a similar way means we can hopefully stick to this tactic of high tempo football and whether it's a 442 with Loza in the system, or a 451 with Corr... I'd hope the tempo and pace would allow us to win many more games.

Coker was so so good tonight. Also Timlin put in a great shift even if things weren't quite coming off for him.

Personally I think against the top teams I'd still like us to play 451. We were very open tonight and that's fine at home but Rochdale away, Fleetwood away etc we may need to be a bit more compact (but still play at a high tempo).

Great result tonite.

Great team performance.

Special mentions to Loza and Coker.

We can do this you know!

Strange how 6 hours ago we was 12 games without a win and now we are 4 games unbeaten!

the young lad Loza I just hope he isn't like straker and that's his 1 in 5 match! He will also be marked heavily in future games but my word what a player! Just does not stop running! He must of covered 12km!

Onwards and upwards, we have got to spank a low side like Torquay!
