Ratings and thoughts here...

Comfortable win against a terrible Cheltenham side, but those are the ones we often struggle to break down, so a great result as we edge closer to the automatics.

great first half took our foot off the pedal a little in the 2nd but very pleased with the overall performance. Think Thompson had a blinder, best ive seen him play and my MOTM. Great reception for Barrett!!!

Who was the idiot who ran on the pitch? With the FA supposedly watching us at the moment not a bright idea. His mummy will not be pleased.

Anyway lets hope this is our year UTB :happy::happy::happy:

Think the current top 5 will be there at the end, but god knows in what order. Wonder who'll blink first. Can't see Shrews or Burton blowing up, let's hope Wycombe & Luton do. One things for sure, it's going to take around 85 points to get into the top 3.

Shaky first 15 mins then Thommo had a stormer. Pigott gets it for 2 goals but Thommo ran him a very close second

I'll write a full report when I have more time, but just wanted to say that I thought Thompson was MOM today, an excellent performance that I hope quiets all those doubters

It's report and ratings. It detracted from what was an enjoyable game. This is supposed to be a fan. Why would any real fan bother running on the pitch? We could have been attacking at the time

Who cares? He now faces a lengthy ban, I want to hear about how the team played not some dick who ran on the pitch.

Browns negative tactics meant one goal for us would've been enough. Brown out. Too many clean sheets. Everyone knows great teams are build from conceding goals...

Also, pretty sure brown and his awful network of scouts found Piggott by accident.

Comfortable win against a poor side. Quality in the first half. Didn't get out of 2nd gear in the 2nd (didn't need to)
Bentley 6.5 A bit tentative at times. I hope the troll is pleased with him/her self
White 7 Solid. Typical JW. Got forward well
Coker 7 Classy player. Took a slight knock near the end, so rested
B-Williams 8 Awesome in the air. Stylish on the deck
Thompson 8 (My MOTM) Attacked everything all night long. Best I have seen him play to date
Leonard 8 Much, much better from Lenny. Passing was better and covered the defence well
Timlin 7.5 Usual busy self
Atkinson 7.5 as above
Payne 8 Lovely touches and skipped past players in the 1st half. Faded a little in the 2nd
Cassidy 7 Worked hard. Needs a tap in
Piggott 8 Lead the line well. Took his goals well.

Subs : Barrett 7 Looked solid. Great to see him back
Hurst 6.5 Ok.
Weston 6.5 Looked quick.

Top result, Tuesday night hoodoo broken!
Teams around us dropping points!!
Sweet dreams Shrimpers

Pretty much this.

Would have been a perfect night had Shrewsbury not scored in the 93rd & 94th minute. Burton and Luton draw while Wycombe lose so can't complain too much. 2 points off automatics and 4 off top.

Thought Thompson was brilliant tonight. Great to see Barrett back too and he was vocal as soon as he was on the pitch and that is exactly what Thompson and Williams need inbetween them.

Just a side point, not sure why "Southend reject" was being chanted at Kane Ferdinand. He came through our youth system and was a regular first team player until he left. He wasn't someone who tried to force a move either. First time he just laughed it off, but it got a bit tiresome after the 3rd time.

Thomson and Williams both excellent after an opening ten minutes where you could have driven a bus between them.
Bentley 6 not much to do one almost mistake
Coker 5 not fit
White 6 mostly woeful in possession but great cross for the first goal
Thompson 9 great performance
Williams 8 strong quick
Timlin 7 better
Leonard 7.5 second half best he's played in weeks
Payne 7 great first half faded badly
Atkinson 7 work rate but too often passed sideways or back
Piggot 8 great eye for goal and work rate
Cassidy 7 worked hard and complimented Piggot

Why are you digging me out? I'm not the only one who mentioned the dickwad coming onto the pitch

Because you mentioned it first. So what, he is a dick, better than that, a banned dick. Why give him the exposure and five minutes of fame that he obviously craved? Ignore the idiot and let him be tomorrows chip paper. You normally give quite a good report, stick to that.

Comfortable win. Wish we had really gone for them though, we may have got 4 or 5. Goal difference could be a factor come May.

Bentley 7. Silenced the Trolls, although did come a way out second half and didn't get almost like Saturday, couple of punched clearances that were iffy. That aside another clean sheet (how many minutes at home now?)

White 7. solid, couple of times should have crossed early and lost the ball. Might have had a late penalty?

Thomson 8. Pick of the back four for me. very solid and cleared any danger from BW's dodgy moments into touch. No messin'

Binnon Williams 7. Didn't make as many mistakes as he looks as though he might (if that makes sense) Good heading too.

Coker 7. Didn't get forward, as much as he may have done, but didn't give anything away.

Timlin 7. Some good, some not so good, but nothing too bad. Creates when he can.

Atkinson. 7.5 Full of running and energy, could have had a goal after good late burst into box, but finishing let him down.
can't leave him out at the moment.

Leonard. 7.5 Better than of late, a lot of energy and getting back to his old self.

Payne. 7.5 Looked lively first half and definitely spots the runs of Piggott and Cassidy, run out of steam a bit second, and was rightly subbed IMHO

Piggott 8.5 Just gets MOM from me for the two goals, movement, and general nuisance, and good touch from the forward man.

Cassidy 7. Better game from him, linked with his forward Partner, and moved well, to leave gaps. A lot of what he does goes un-noticed because he is not getting on the scoresheet, but must persist with this partnership.

Subs.

Hurst 7. swapped wings with Weston, and caused slightly more problems, but got himself caught off-side when really shouldn't have done, and would have been through on goal.

Weston 7. Flattered to deceive a bit looked lively, but didn't actually beat his man when he came on. Swapped wings and the same result.

Barrett. 7. (Now I know this is going to cause an uproar) I thought we looked more shaky when he came on at the back, and this substitution actually seemed to spur Cheltenham on ( and their subs too ) The back four looked comfortable, and I would have left it alone, but then I don't have to please the crowd !

Not sure any of the subs added to the performance.
