I know you will probably think I'm a bit mad. But...

For the first 30 minutes I didn't think we played that badly. I thought our general football and posession was good. We kept the ball nicely, played with a lot of width and were spraying passes all over the shop. The only thing that was missing was a threatening striker.

Second half again we came out straight away to attack. When Hall came on we looked like a different team.

Just his presents when he is on the field adds to our quality as a lot of attention focuses on him.

Anyway. I'll carry on this post later cos I'm going to hang myself due to dropping these points.

There were also bad points which I will discuss later.

Now where is that rope.

Wow I thought we weren't great today but for Mr Rose-tinted to be suicidal sums it up lol. For what its worth I was pleased we tried to play football today but agree with OBD that we were just missing someone who would threaten the goal. For all the effort we only had half chances on goal the whole first half. Stanley were very fortunate to go in front but I think a draw was about right for the game as a whole. We need to produce more chances and unfortunately the win today might have been the confidence boost the boys needed.

I've said time and time again that Sturrock isnt exactly the most technical of managers and we see this every week.

Sawyer is a proper footballer who finds space and can pass to feet, he's far superior to Timlin and Grant but he doesn't appear to like him too much.

Same with Hall, I know he's been trouble and ill (ahem) but as soon as he came on the game changed, we had shots at goal and started passing to feet.

The other thing that annoys me with Sturrock (apart from the hoof ball) is that he plays two hold up strikers up top, Harris holds up the ball and lays it off as does Sampson, we need one of them playing along with an out and out striker like Benyon, he comes on today and guess what, scores!

Imagine where we would be if we had say Di Canio as manager, top easy!

I'm off for a beer

Back, couldn't find the rope.

Yeah so, as I was saying. We played some really nice football today, spraying it out to the wings etc, nice balls a long the back line, Timlin and Grant collecting the ball from deep. I thought Sawyer and Martin were good first half hugging the touchline and getting those balls in.

But we lacked a threatening goal scorer until Benyon came on. We missed Dicko without a doubt.

I'm a right chuffed Benyon has opened his account as he looks to be the man who will get us some goals.

This rose tinted bull **** I get tainted with. I'm not rose tinted, I just realise I'm watching a lower standard of football. I also intend to live my life positively in all aspects not just football. If you are constantly moaning about football saying how **** this is and how **** that was then chances are you are going to be like that in your life. I am without a doubt a glass half full type of geezer which I find helps me in life because I'm positive and guess what? If you are positive about things in life, you seem to have a better one. That's what I've found anyway.

Our form is shocking at the moment. In our last 10 we have collected I think 12 points. We only need 16 from our remaining 30 points that are available to give us 80 which will surely see us promoted. Which is only a win and a draw better better than what we have achieved in the last 10 games. Doesn't seem much does it? Cheltenham also have the same points tally in the last 10. And Crawley have 9 from their last possible 30. If I was a Swindon fan in the back of my mind I'd be thinking can we keep this up? 27 from their last 30. WOW. Shrewsbury and others not much better than us!

The whole divison is incredible in consistent. If we spreaded our 17 games across through the season we wouldn't appear to have had a bad patch. But as it goes we can't do that.

But yeah, their equaliser was bizzare, out of know where (exactly like their opening goal). But that's the way it goes. Weird how a draw can make you feel so different.

Thought today was an improvement but we have to stop giving credit to poor teams for playing well, we need to take control of games and stop giving them the chance to. We've flattered too many poor sides this year.

Prosser much better today he looks to be improving a lot.
What has happened to timlin he is non existent lately!
Really disappointed in Neil Harris, provided a good assist for benyon but we need more energy up front and he just doesn't bring any! Agree with posts regarding two holding strikers, just one please with hall or benyon playing off him.

Gutted we dropped points today and from my view martin ducked his head under the cross from the corner, did look as though he got a shout to do so.

I really am confused by this.

1. How can you blame one player?
2. We can still win promotion?

So you are effectively blaming one person on something that hasn't happened? Hmm.

Southend shots on target 2
Southend shots off target 8

Accrington shots on target 6
Accrington shots off target 1

Southend corners 5
Accrington corners 7

Says it all to me. 2 shots on target in 90 mins is criminal at home to a poor side. We got exactly what another crap performance overall deserved.

You've completely confused the conversation now MODS! Ha it's like people have gone mad!

Its all for your benefit Onionface ... you KNOW this thread is going to be full of head shaking and hand wringing, along with a fair splash of lamenting and wailing

I advise you to stay away from it

I don't trust the bbc stats, I looked at it before we scored our first goal and it said we'd had one on target. Adding on the two goals means we had at least 3 on target. However we do need a goalscorer, I'd like to see Benyon start with Harris the next game.

Haha.
The general vibe at the moment doesn't seem to bad! People have seemed to notice some of the football that we played or tried to play!

Maybe Martin could have done bteet but then Kane needs criticisizing too. Booked in seconds after a stupif foul and the trhe ball stayed up their end for a minute or so after and they score.

Poor spelling error. Martin might have done better at the dreaded corner but I feel Kane has to take some responsibilty as well. But has he the grace to partly hold his hand up?

Good point, Blue. Indeed, if I remember correctly the booking kerfuffle led to some loss of concentration on our part which Stanley took full advantage of, so that before we knew they were flying down the other end for the first of the dreaded corners. (And it was before this first corner I heard a guy near me saying it was looking pretty gappy at that near post.)
