The Chesterfield goal was onside in the build up, the midfielder ran from deep starting his run before the ball was played laying it to Colclough, who spread it wide.

However I have more issue with the call to pull up cards when clear through. He starts in his own half, with the Chesterfield defender 2 yards in his. The defender steps up as Cards steps forward and one pace into their half, ball is played with them level, again proved on TV, shocking decision from the linesman on that one.

Glad we won, but that left me fuming!

More than 8,200 in the 5th tier. Incredible atmosphere, amazing occasion. I'm so glad I was there. Win was actually just the icing on the cake. That was special. And you lot wanted it postponed! But are you actually surprised at any of that? I'm not

That was right up there with beating Man Utd.
Not on performance, but everything to do with what went on around the game.
10 point deduction, refused postponement from Nat League for international call ups, 1year long transfer embargo, a loan striker missing the game, the captain missing the game, midst of a ownership takeover, Chesterfield almost unbeaten all season so far, we only had 2 subs, no burgers for the onions.

For some stupid reason i didnt think it was over at 1nil down. We never do things the easy way and Roots Hall was a cauldron of feverish Southend fans today.

There may be better wins to come this season, but that game will go down in history.

Agree with all that, what a game also nice to meetyou mate and your son and friend,come on you mighty mighty Shrimpers.

I remember the old Saltergate fixtures where again take over a 1000 to yours and we took you back to rootshall ( your memory might be slightly shaken but you took the **** out of our goalkeeper who’s brother had just died ) put yourselves back into your box you came to Rootshall today and saw a proper team … that big thing with the blonde pony tail was **** just like he was when we took over 800 to you 2 seasons ago … and your team like your fan base are very very average

Considering all the issues going on at the club it amazes me how this group of players put in these performances on a regular basis.Obviously Kev and his team are working miracles with this group but we need this embargo lifted he needs help how.

Great team performance. Special mention to Jack Bridge who at one point sprinted back to cover a chesterfield attack and within 10 seconds was sprinting forward in the attack. Fantastic energy.

Genuine question on Jack today. Did anyone think he was carrying an injury as I don't think I saw him attack the defenders with his mazy dribbling the whole game. I'd be delighted if you all shout me down, but I thought he struggled today.

Depends how you look at it. I don't think he had anything to do, and claiming a few crosses should be his bread and butter. Doesn't mean he played badly. Every player starts on a base score of 6 for me, and it goes up and down from there. Argument perhaps that he was worth a 7, but his kicking was a worry and ultimately kept him at a 6 for me

A good honest appraisal from their point of view a silly challenge for the pen although could of maybe had others given and yes that was a very strange second goal , I think Kev said Wes got lucky! but of course Wes deserved that for his hardwork although now given as Og .
It should also be noted how well Stockport, Notts and Wrexham are doing after building decent squads and playing styles in the NL, so can we make that push for a play offs promotion. Roll on the new era..

just when you think this team cant offer you more... they do. What a result. Not won by two worldie goals but we got the luck that our all round display deserved. From Martin, safe as houses to Cardwell/Wood running their nuts off up top to a man they were magnificent. Chesterfield rocked up off a winning run probably thinking 'two subs southend would be easy prey. how wrong they were. Many have said since that we were the best side theyve played this season and even Cooke said we have the one of the best 11 in the league. That was no fluke today. forget that we won with a penalty and deflected OG, The pen came from one of our CB battling in the area after patient build up and the second goal came from us closing them down and forcing the mistake. As good as you get in terms of team and work ethic

that today was a team, fans and club UNITED. 8000 plus for a NL live on TV. We werent left disappointed. 7 points off the play offs and some winnable games coming up although Bromley and Barnet will offer a stiff test. Gateshead have hit some form so will be tough next week but no doubt we will take another decent following up there next week.

Loved Kevs interveiw with W block in full voice. Today the watching public saw what this club is all about. The good times are returning and we have a fan base ready to ride along

Just seen on Instagram that our former kitman, Luke Purcell, was at the game today. I know how highly he was rated by the players but was forced to move to Stoke for the good of his family because of the problems of being an employee of the club under the current regime. Glad you had a fantastic spectacle to witness on your return Luke. Go well and perhaps there might be a happy permanent return one day.

I went to that game at Saltergate. How dare they call Roots Hall a $hit hole. One stand was condemned and I have never known a quieter home ground.
We have had a tyrant as Chairman for many years now who has pumped no money into the club or ground.
To have what we have now is nothing short of amazing. With more resources this Team will fly.
