Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1, Rotherham United 1

just saw the highlights, the pass from Mohsni to Britt was fantastic. The guy might be a lunatic but he is really really gifted.

The game had 0-0 written all over it, we appeared to be more solid but as a consequence less potent going forward. It was going to take a worldy to win it and you can rely on Hurst to provide what was needed and from their should have been game won. Once again we blow it, a cross to the back post on the six yard line and no-one can deal with it, deja vu Barnet 1st goal and Northampton winner two weeks ago. So so deflating when more points are dropped and late again for the same reason!

Smith 6.5 - Did OK, some good saves, kicking better but always the feeling of calamity at some point
Clohessy 7 - Worked hard got forward, usual performance, why the change to captain?
Cresswell 7 - Coped with everything until he floundered a bit with their goal
Prosser 6.5 - Equally coped apart from the odd wayward header which gave away possession
Straker 6 - Appears a little more nervous at the Hall and was a bit sporadic in his play
Leonard 7 - Good steady unfussy performance, what has happened to his shooting ability though
Hurst 7.5 - As vital as Clohessy in his inclusion, always likely to produce a quality moment
Lund 6 - Quieter I thought than previously a bit outmuscled in the middle
Mayor 6 - One good run in the first half, but fear is going the same way as Dave Martin
Assombalonga 6.5 - Ran all day but had no luck or joy
Mohsni 7.5 - MOTM just, obvious ability and filled in everywhere and helped shore up the defence until the end?

Corr 5 - Only on in the 88th minute
Eastwood 5 - Even later on

On this form play-offs out the question, but we have a relatively comfortable run-in. Port Vale next week are wobbling especially at home, then followed by three home games against teams in the bottom five then Rochdale away who are dropping like a stone. If we can cut out conceeding the soft goals we can do it. I reckon 73pts will be needed this season, which means 7 wins and a draw from our last 11, UTB

Eastwood was ready to come on just before Hurst scored. When Hurst's goal went in, I reckon he decided to perserve with Britt because Rotherham would have had to come forward, leaving gaps that could have been exploited by Britt's pace. Hence why Freddy only got three minutes.

The goal we conceded is silly. People around me tried to blame Smith for it, because obviously Cresswell is immune to criticism.

Overall it was an improvement on Tuesday and against, let's not forget, a good side. We are still missing four of our key players, I wouldn't call that result depressing at all.
