Just awful. We made another poor side look good. Poor first half from both sides with no-one stamping their authority on the game. But we let them suck us into playing their hoofball. If we'd kept it on the deck and passd it around them, which we did every once in a blue moon today, we'd have played them off the park. Too many players AWOL - Grant and Easton were poor in the middle and kept getting overrun time after time. Clohessy was poor. Hall was marked out of the game by two players. Corr was shocking - no speed, no mobility, an inability to jump and an inability to hold onto the ball. Everything was static, no movement. Such a disappointment after the last 3 games.

Evans 5 - Poor kicking and could have done more with both goals.
Clohessy 4 - Disappointing distribution and positioning today.
Gilbert 5 - Solid but got rather easily beaten by Phillips several times.
Mohsni 6 - Dominant in the air as usual, little bit headless chicken.
Barker 6 - Dominant in the air and put himself about.
Ferdinand 5 - Overrun a little bit but had no protection from Easton and Grant in front. Looked a little lost at CB.
Grant 4 - Nothing came off for him today and his lack of vision can be frustrating.
Easton 5 - AWOL at times.
Hall 5 - Ineffective much of the time as he was double-marked. When he wasn't, his crossing and running with the ball wasn't up to his usual recent high standards.
Sturrock 5 - Ran a lot but seemed to be played quite wide rather than up top with Corr. Struggled to get into the game due to this, but was unlucky to be taken off when it should have been his strike partner who left the field.
Corr 3 - Slow, immobile, poor movement, can't jump.....awful today.

Sawyer 5 - Ran with the ball across the pitch which could have given us another dimension had his team mates actually moved for him. Wasted on the wing.
Crawford 5 - Didn't really get into the game, but put himself about a bit.
Soares - Not enough time.

Special mention for the West Stand lino who hardly had a decision to make all afternoon but the one he should have made he didn't even see. Absolutely inept and to top it all, he and the ref were laughing about it when the ref finally did give a hand ball to wild celebrations around the ground. A total disgrace to the game.

I'm still absolutely livid that we let that first half goal in as we really shouldn't have done.

...And sawyer has to start next game.

Definitely, it's just a shame his level of football intelligence and vision can't be read by most of the team. When he came on today, you could see what he was trying to do, where his passes were going to go but most of the team couldn't.

Evans 6
Clohessy 5
Gilbert 6
Mohsni 6
Barker 6
Ferdinand
Grant 4
Easton 4
Hall 6
Sturrock 6
Corr 4

Well thank god that ticket was free!

Another dire game, no pace anywhere, no one tried to control the game, really static with no movement, 4 3 3 didn't seem to get us anywhere today.

Evans 5 - Didn't have much to do, apart from pick the ball out of the net, kicking was difficult in the wind, but why not more short goal kicks?
Clohessy 5 - Not a great performance, crossing was poor.
Gilbert 6 - Probably one of his better performances from what I have seen, defensively quite solid, looked to pass to feet more today. Should have scored.
Mohsni 6 - Did well enough in the air, wanted to win every ball that came near him. We will miss him obviously.
Barker 6 - Thought that Harrold beat him to many times from what I saw close up in the second half. But was one of our better players.
Ferdinand 5 - Was better in the midfield, did his job well, couple of bad touches though, and at centre back he didn't seem to comfortable.
Grant 5 - A few moments where he showed what he could do, had a few pops at goal to no avail. Needed him to help control the midfield more though.
Easton 5 - Same as Grant really apart from the chances, he never really got into the game it seemed.
Hall 6 - I could see his confidence, had a better first half than second, one great pass of good quality to set up clohessy for a cross which was wasted. Marked well throughout the game though.
Sturrock 5 - Just can't remember him getting involved that much, when he did get the ball he generally did something positive with it, but just didn't see enough of it!
Corr 4 - He was running all over the place trying to get on the end of things, he had a tough job as it seemed as though it was up to him to go for all the hoofs up the pitch.

Sawyer 7 - Clearly head and shoulders above the rest on the pitch technique wise, when he got the ball he looked a threat and ran with it when ever possible, needs to get in the team.

I was told today that alledgedly half the players haven't been paid for January (and the non playing staff as well). I also heard that Pato is not involved because if we play him and he scores he's due a big bonus! I am seriously worried for Bilel, it looked horrendous and it sounds as if it is a real bad one.

Evans 6 Not that much to do
Clohessy 5 Poor
Gilbert 6 Should have scored, but was pretty solid
Mohsni 6 A bit wild
Barker 6 Still our best defender
Ferdinand 5 Overrun in midfield, shaky in defence
Grant 4 Poor game, below average
Easton 4 Poor game, below average
Hall 6 Marked out the game, but tried
Sturrock 5 Headless has no idea in front of goal
Corr 3 Poor game, way below average today

Sawyer 5 I just don't see it - yet
Crawford 5
Soares 5

Too angry about the thuggish tactics of the opposition and the complete incompetence of the officials to post much. Hall was forced out of the game pretty much and we only came to life once Sawyer came on. Both strikers struggled against tall defenders so we should have tried more on the floor.

Evans - 6
Clohessy - 5
Mohsni - 7
Barker - 7
Gilbert - 6
Ferdinand - 7
Easton - 6
Grant - 6
Hall - 6
Sturrock - 5
Corr - 5

Subs -
Sawyer for Mohsni - 8 (MOTM which tells it all)
Crawford for Sturrock - 7
Soares for Gilbert - 5....just, why?

Officials - minus 10, absolutely crap, the ref and west lino anyway

Matt Harrold, you are a disgrace - a thug and a cheat

Not one of our better performances but couldve been better if Gilbert hadnt missed an absolute sitter in the first half.
Thought we tried to overcomplicate things at times, and played into the Shrews hands. Give them some credit, their back 4 were very resolute and well marshalled by the experienced Ian Sharps. I also thought it was a game where we needed some magic from the bench and there was nothing. Soares and Crawford both had chances at the end but never looked like scoring. Definitely need to look at the loan window. In fact, I am still wondering how Louie Soares ever made it as a professional footballer.

The referee gave a strange performance. Early on I thought we benefitted from some soft decisions against the Shrews, but not spotting the handball from Ginge was poor. Didnt see the incident on Mohsni but it doesnt look like we will be seeing him for a while. Not sure where Phillips was today?

Thought their 23 was a handful, glad that Herd wasnt playing as think he wouldve done even more damage. Harrold, for all his antics, scored a fine 2nd goal and who can blame him for sticking it to the west stand.

First game of the season forme so can't really compare to previous performances. However, a few observations: Can't agree Shrews were poor, from my seat in the east yellows they played most of the football on show, with some quick one touch passing, layoffs, knock-ons etc. They were simply more up for it & half a yard quicker in both thought & deed.

Sawyer looked a class above when he came on, tried to make things happen. Young Ferdinand has got real ability but needs more confidence to try things, instead of too often taking the easy sideways pass option. Moshni is everything I've heard, hope the injury is not serious. Barker has some class about him but I'm guessing today wasn't his best performance. Grant also looked a cut above in spells. The rest to me were pretty dire but it appears most of them had an off day so can't be too critical going by recent results.

The pitch looked a lot bumpier than it did on my last visit towards the end of last season.

1. Harold should have been sent off for an elbow.
2. Harold handled the ball atleast 4 times BLATANTLY today, once resulted in a goal.
3. Harold you never ever scored a goal like that for us, why?
4. You celebrated infront of the west stand, after fouling and probably putting our best player out for what looks like a long time.
5. The referee and linesmen infront of the west, absolutely loved their time with us, and where constantly laughing about every decision.
6. Linesmen on East Stand side, blatant offside for the 2nd goal, and also missed 2 or 3 blatant offside decisions.
7. 50% of Shrewsbury support jeering Mohsni when he was clearly badly injured and being carried off on a stretcher.
8. Blatant pushing again both ways.
9. The officials ruined the game AGAIN.
10. Nothing worked at all and we didn't get any luck infront of goal, NOTHING!
11. The last 15 minutes we had a lot of chances from corners, where the bobbling ball was trickling about the Shrewsbury six yard box.

I am chosing not to use the language I want, and I am also choosing not to say exactly what I want about the two **** officials!

There are more.

I'm just hurt, after some great performances, our form has been given a dig by the USUAL clueless officials and refereeing decision.

Harold you did **** all for us, you useless idiot.

However these are good points;

1. Support back to over 5,000, Hopefully people have got the bug back?
2. 3 points of playoff spots.
3. The only reason we lost is because of 2 wrong decisions otherwise we would have had a point.

UP THE BLUES!

FFS!

EDIT - Not sure Harold has actually given Bilel the injury or not.

think corr was awfull today and dont know how he wasnt subbed, it took him 78 mins to win his first header and gave the team next to nothing in attack.

What he said.

My son thinks I get too emotional at football; good job I let it out there otherwise I'd probably kill someone on the way home.
Don't think I'd better say anymore otherwise I might say something that I'd live to regret.

Take the blinkers off, dude! We lost 'cos we were sh!te! No two ways about it. If we had players who could put the ball in the back of the net, we would have won. If all 11 players turned up today instead of a crucial 3 or 4 going AWOL for 90 minutes, we'd have won. If we didn't allow ourselves to get sucked into a game of hoof ball during the first half, we'd have been able to impose ourselves and our football on the game a bit more. We did none of things, played poor football and allowed ourselves to be bullied. That's why we lost.

0-0 Would have been fair wouldn't it?

Poor performance after the last few games...Shrewsbury were not that good a side (thought their number 23 was a bit nippy though). We looked the more likely to get the break through in the first half...Gilbert miss as incredible. I am sure their first goal will be talked about enough and I can only add that inept officialdom like that did not help.

Hope Moshi's injury is not too bad, more of concern is Grant and Closhessy...both were players in form early season but seem to be going backwards as the season goes on. Grants pass completing rate must be the worst on the midfields and I starting to get bored of this playing for the foul first he needs to harden up and starting ridding these challenges. Saw enough in Sawyers extended run out today to hope he might get a start soon...ran with real purpose and almost always found a player with his passes and look to add a bit of creativity that we lack.

Saying all that two chances at end for Soares and I think Easton could have given us an unlikely point...sorry but you have to bury those if we wish to be contenders. The pack is bunched for the play offs so hopefully we can get a run going again.
