Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-1 Yeovil Town

After the sending off of our keeper it felt like we would be holding on rather than doing much else. The game was not a classic as the ref made it all about her. The crossing from JB is atrocious but in all honesty we never really looked like scoring. So after the great game against Charlton last week we seemed to have slipped back to old ways again and never were threatening in attack as Pebble who played well was generally on his own.

Probably a draw would have been fairer as the Yeovil goal IMO was just a fluke and it was a banker Kev would get a Red after the Yellow.

Best part of the game was the new food bar in the West stand.

Didn't play too bad with 10 men but never looked like scoring as usual (even with 11). Unlucky to lose to a great hit/lucky cross.

Jeacock making a mistake for the red that every single keeper has made in their career, **** timing for us but it happens.

Will refer to people in the South stand on the Penalty shout but on stream it didn't look like one.

Ref was crap, not the worst we have had in the NL but certainly up there.

Ref killed the game, terrible performance from her.

We play like a higher division team, probably why we did so well against Charlton, but we need to be far more direct in this division.

Players did OK, no one really stood out apart from Taylor. Fluke of a goal to win it - we move on

He needed to get a grip on his lip... we didn't need him in the press box in the situation we were in.

16th in the table is not exactly a good look before we head off to Altricham.https://www.sportinglife.com/football/league-tables/english-national-league/7/standings

We were slightly the better side before Jeacock torpedoed us with his moment of madness. He had been poor before then actually, his kicking was woeful. A classic example of how not to take your opportunity. Collin performed well in his place and made one great save. Sadly Kev wasn't on the touchline to shout congratulations to him.

We still played well but were undone by a mis hit cross which sailed into the net, deceiving our defence.

The calls for a penalty looked dubious on the live stream. Hopefully D1versity caught the moment from a better position.

Why can't Kev keep himself under control?

We deserved a draw, but it's a game to shut away in a little box in the attic and forget about. Onwards and upwards.

Very poor. That was easy for Yeovil.

Even before sending off we were not in it, miles off the pace. So frightened to drive forward so we pass sideways and backwards. On that showing we are lower end of table at best.

No one wants to shoot when on edge of area. All to rigid in our formation .

Looks like lack of communication between defenders and GK did us again for the second week with the sending off.

Thought Crowther did well.

Didn’t actually play too badly all things considered, but Jeacock really cost us today with some pretty naive and poor decision making. He can moan all he wants but that was a red card all day long.

Ref was generally terrible, but Kev must have known he was skating on the thinnest of thin ice. She was desperate to send him off and he seemingly obliged.

Really frustrating afternoon as they weren’t a good side and with 11 men, I reckon we’d have had a result there.
