Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-0 Woking

Woeful. Not even one shot on target. Made a dreadful Woking side look almost mildly average.
Can't understand anybody applauding that shower each and every week. I get the sentiment, but we can't be accepting that as a standard moving forwards.
Good recruitment and pre season.
Sentiment can do one.
We have to get out of this league.
Kev and Co know where we need sorting.

It was seriously not pretty yesterday.
For me, this was your typical end of the season clash, with almost tto nothing to play for beyond pride. I believe Kevin knows who is staying next season, and what we need to do to keep out of trouble / stay up. That includes lifeless and boring 0-0 draws! I know we are 5 games out, and we are not quite 100% comfortable, but we are close. This squad is beyond exhausted!

Positives for me are another clean sheet and another point in the bag. In the bigger picture, this season was written off in August when it was clear that the training ground situation was such a mess, and no prospect of an obvious points deduction. We came in to look at a good position before the points deduction! No point chasing a minor hope of the playoffs at this juncture.

Cant believe the ridiculous comments about Kev and co. Clearly delusional!!

Good old Ken 😜

We currently have a 4 to 5 thousand walk-up on match day who want SUFC to be successful, but also want to be entertained, excited and most importantly, win matches; the current style of play does not give them that. They can stop attending whenever they choose and if they do that, bang goes the consortiums stated aim of being financially stable in 5 years.

This is the thing about saying “oh well job done” for this season and let’s wait til pre season/next season. There are games left this season that people have paid to watch and you’d expect the team to try to win them. Coasting to summer isn’t an option. We should be aiming to finish as high up the table as possible, shift those season cards.

The almost total absence of any midfield creativity becomes more painfullly obvious with each game. Husin frustratingly shows glimpses now and then but it is clear that the reason he has never made the grade higher up the pyramid is that these are only glimpses. Otherwise it's just hopeful and rarely accurate crosses from the wings that give the strikers little chance. Waldron would surely benefit from something to run onto as he has shown a couple of times but aerial power does not seem to be his strength. A through ball along the ground seems to be beyond the capabilities of any of the midfielders, unless of couse their instructions are 'give it to Bridge'.

Haven't read the above so probably repeating a lot of it. A dreadful game of football and not a lot else to be said on that. Felt like we laboured through with not a lot coming off. A mixture of not being at the levels we were earlier in the season and probably a subconscious drop-off now we're pretty much safe. Subdued performance and subdued atmosphere (again). My main concern was we didn't even seem to be doing the basics right Saturday. It happens of course but against a Woking side which only really offered organsisation as their strength is a frustrating one to take again.

For me the pressures off now though. 6 or so games left to experiment a bit, plan for next season and hopefully end on a high. I still think it's important we finish strongly and put a bit of a statement out to the other clubs. The pressure will be massively on next season and rightly so. A different pressure to what the players have felt since arriving probably. Some will sink and some will swim but it's up to the management to make sure they get the correct signings in the summer that compliment this already decent squad. See you at Ebbsfleet

It's taken me until Monday to even come on here to look at the Zone. The whole current situation with the sale dragging on and on (unfortunately doing more to confirm my fears rather than allay them) and the last few performances have sucked the enthusiasm and enjoyment out of the season and I'm glad I only have one more game to watch, the last one at home v Rochdale. We're not going down, we're certainly not going up and I just want next season to come round asap so we can have a proper pre season.

As for Saturday's game, it was proper non league tripe. I've seen us play worse but the opposition have usually had something about them. But Saturday was I think the worst game of professional football I have ever witnessed.

Crowther had an absolute mare and I'd give him a 3 out of 10. My MOM was Collin with a 7. Husin gets a 6 with everyone else a 5.

Absolutely dreadful, error strewn and incredibly dull.

Only need to remember/ watch the videos of past promotion winning teams to see what our shortages are now! Creativity, skill and a couple of horrible b_stards who really really want it! Plus winning type tactics.
