Southend to play West Ham - Tuesday August 3rd

Got through, got fobbed off yet again... Was told that I'll "definitely get them" by this evening and, even if I don't, they can print one off for me when I arrive. They wouldn't even let me take up the offer of free supporter club membership for the 08/09 season... Not happy.

Fair play to any Wet Sham fans actually from London who support the Hamsters.

It would be easy for them to be gloryhunters and support one of their bigger and better neighbours such as Spurs.

My issue is with Essex-based Hamsters.

But Dagenham is in Essex and that's where most WHU fans come from. Also, many East Londoners moved out to the Southend area years ago. If they supported West Ham then then they will do again.

I really don't get the problem with someone supporting a team but not living on it's doorstep, especially if you did once upon a time or there are family ties. However, on "distance" followers who have never set foot in the stadium (or who are ever likely to) and only like them because they're a "big" club that wins a lot, I'm with you on that.

Hardly applies to West ham though, does it <snigger>?

A cockney who now resides in that quaint little Essex village that is Romford

You're only a proper cockney West Ham fan if;

i) you or a member of your family grew up on Green Street

ii) you or a member of your family are related to the Krays

But Dagenham is in Essex

Not it isn't - which is why I get peed off with BBC Essex banging on and on about them. Are they going to do commentary for us this season as we are League 2, or will D&R (the R bit isn't Essex either) going to get commentary?

Apparently the Hamsters are signing a player who "represented his country with distinction at WC 2010" very soon. Wonder if it will be done in time for tonight...

Also looking forward to Easton v Parker due to the formers remarkable impression of the latter.

I had to fill in a security form for work last week & needed my 80 year old dad’s place of birth. Now I know he was born in the Silvertown/Canning Town area but I though for safety’s sake I’d ask for what’s actually on his passport.

Fecking WEST fecking HAM!! Those actual words! What shame.

Obviously I’ve disowned him & written him out of my will.

If you're from Dagenham, support the Daggers.

I'm not advocating changing teams when you move house.

What a MASSIVE chip on your shoulder you muppets have

remind me - how far is Yorkshire from Southend?

Paston the New Zealand keeper would be a step up from that clown Green!

Honestly you lot, rising to the bait time and time again when we do and have done the same to other teams on plenty of occasions!!! I thought I was the most gullible person on this board but obviously not judging by some of the over reaction!

Just pity the poor Wummers, and remind them how well Junior Stanislas came on under our tutelage and are they enjoying the stigma of Gold, Sullivan and Brady's managerial type skills? As was said earlier, I think we might have the odd chorus in relation to Ms Brady! ;)

wummers?? spammers??? hamsters??

what is wrong with you lot?

I have a feeling tonight is gonna be chaos (not in terms of crowd trouble, although there might be a bit of that) at the turnstiles with people arriving late, West Ham fans who haven't been to Roots Hall in 3 years trying to find their seats and annoying everyone. I'm sitting in the West block V so hoping it's mainly Shrimpers in there and a bit of atmosphere.
